As Applications Engineer, you'll coordinate between Inside Sales and Engineering to develop solutions for customer applications and act as a Subject Matter Expert for Matrix solutions. You'll engage with distributed and third-party equipment manufactures to ensure solutions meet specification, pricing, and delivery needs. Your work will come to life with the solutions we deliver for our customers.Are you excited about this work?
  • Assist Inside Sales group by supplying Matrix Costs for Customer Requested Specifications for outgoing quotes.

  • Assist Inside Sales by reviewing Concept/Preliminary Layouts to outgoing quotes.

  • Review Quotes as needed to ensure they are technically sound and financially viable with an acceptable gross margin percentage.

  • Attend Kick-off meetings. Focus will be on, but not limited to, special orders in which the Kick-off meeting will be critical to review presale vs post sale specifications.

  • Build preliminary (reference) machinery and/or production line layout in CAD.

  • Coordinate with Regional Sales Managers and customers to obtain site information including building layout/elevation drawings.

  • Gather drawings for ancillary OEM equipment as needed.

  • Review of customer RFQ/URS documents, consulting with engineering/operations as required.

  • Perform speed and film tests on behalf of the sales team.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for customer interactions.

  • Remain actively engaged in all aspects of the opportunity pipeline. Proactively offer assistance to Regional Sales Managers.

  • Interact with distributed products resources to confirm configuration, delivery, and pricing of solutions.

  • Work with third party equipment suppliers to confirm configuration, delivery, and pricing of solutions.

  • Take ownership in facilitating machinery demos, ensuring equipment is set up, relevant stakeholders are informed, sample product/packaging materials are available (either internal or from customer), and expectations for demo are clearly defined and communicated to/by the customer.

  • Coordinate with other ProMach divisions, particularly up and downstream equipment to understand integrated solutions.

  • Maintain, update, or otherwise take ownership applications historical databases.

  • Attend trade shows as requested for technical sales support and direct customer interaction.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's or Technical Degree (Engineering/Technical preferred).

  • Packaging, Capital Equipment, Engineered Manufacturing System/Equipment background/experience, knowledge of vertical form fill seal packaging industries and applications preferred.

  • Ability to identify customer needs and match their requirements with company product/solution/services

  • Adaptable and open to change regarding customer solutions and internal company business plan.

  • Able to use benchmarking as well as direct experience as a catalyst to drive change and a spirit of continuous improvement.

  • Strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills.

  • Sales experience preferred.

  • Ability to travel on a limited basis.
