Material Handler
Pay & Benefits
$20.00-$23.00 per hour on 1st shift, with an additional $2.00 per hour shift differential for 2nd shift. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity with access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability benefits, mental health benefits, PTO, paid holidays, paid vacation, and annual reviews once hired in.
Hours & Location
Valley City, OH
Training begins on 1st shift: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM
Long-term schedule moves to 2nd shift: Monday-Friday, 3:30 PM-11:30 PM
Job Responsibilities
This Material Handler role is a hands-on warehouse and manufacturing position in a steel processing environment. A typical day includes working from job orders, finding the correct bundles of steel bars, and moving materials to the right machines or shipping areas.
Responsibilities include:
Load and unload steel bars from trucks
Move material using sit-down tow motors, side loaders, and overhead cranes
Load bars into cardboard tubes, band, box, and prepare product for shipment
Oil steel bars as needed to help prevent rust
Complete tickets, work orders, and basic production paperwork
Follow written work orders and verbal instructions accurately
Work safely in a faster-paced, non-temperature-controlled shop environment
Required Qualifications
Warehouse, material handling, or manufacturing experience preferred
Tow motor, side loader, and overhead crane experience preferred
Able to lift up to 40 lbs. and stay active throughout the shift
Able to understand English work instructions and complete basic paperwork
Comfortable working in a noisy, hands-on manufacturing setting
Strong attendance, good work ethic, and willingness to work 2nd shift long term
Work Environment
This is a physical steel handling job where you should expect to be on your feet, move throughout the shop, and get dirty at times.
