Job description

2nd Shift Production Machine Operator II 

Join the Growing Team at Bradford Company 
Bradford Company is a family-owned and operated business located in Gallatin, TN.  We're currently looking for hardworking and reliable production machine operators to become part of our dedicated team.

SUMMARY

Set-up and safely operate a variety of machines (Edge Sealer, Band Saw, Framer, C-Slotter, Die Press, CNC Router) – start, stop, load, and feed. Duties include intimate knowledge of a at least one piece of equipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Responsible for machine preparation and set-up. Able to produce a quality part and inspect parts using a tape measure, gauges (if required) and complete first piece inspections as required.
  • Material handling and removal of scrap carts.
  • Responsible for recognizing and reporting obvious quality problems or variations from specifications for the parts being run.
  • Record and report times, materials produced, and scrap.
  • Record and report production and/or equipment problems.
  • Responsible for instruction and safety of catcher if present.
  • Practice and promote safe work practices and intimately understand the safety equipment of the machine (etc. like curtains and safety mats if present).
  • Maintain a satisfactory productivity rating.
  • Proactively helps to create and work within a team-based environment and practices effective communication skills.
  • Train other team members and retain and apply job knowledge.
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of machine repairs and/or any unsafe conditions.
  • Possess a working knowledge of material/ inventory identification.
  • Requisition parts and supplies.
  • Work from a manufacturing requirements schedule.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to use and read a tape measure. 
  • Attention to detail and strong reliability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience and/or training preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and 5S workplace organization standards is preferred
