Machine Operator Job Description

Job Title: Machine Operator

Department: Production/Manufacturing

Reports To: Production Supervisor


Position Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining production

equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing. This position requires attention to

detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to meet production goals while maintaining product

quality.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operate manufacturing machinery according to established procedures and work instructions.

Set up machines for production runs, including adjusting machine settings and loading materials.

Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and

production efficiency.

Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.

Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.

Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and report major mechanical problems to maintenance

personnel.

Complete production reports, quality records, and downtime documentation accurately.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping

standards.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and standard operating procedures.

Work collaboratively with supervisors, maintenance technicians, quality personnel, and team

members.

Assist with equipment changeovers and production line transitions as needed.

Meet daily production, quality, and attendance expectations.


Qualifications

Required

High school diploma or GED preferred.



Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment after

training.

Ability to read and understand work instructions and safety procedures.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.

Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred

Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience.
