Job description

Monolith Construction is a growing General Contractor looking for a Construction Superintendent.ย  We participate in a very wide variety of commercial projects, ranging from around $200k up to $35 Million and include Educational, Institutional, Multi-Family, Retail, Restaurants, and Medical.ย  Our personnel have completed over 300 projects on 4 different continents and hold multiple industry certifications.ย  We utilize the latest software and technology to achieve the highest quality results on behalf of any client.ย  Last, however the most important, is our commitment to Safety.ย  We are a Tennessee Drug Free Workplace and offer in-house OSHA training.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of โ€˜As Builtโ€™ documents.
  • Assist PM with the development of an initial schedule and provide detail to that schedule as required by the project. Supervise all subcontractors and vendors adherence to schedule providing PM with consistent and reliable updates.ย 
  • Management and coordination of day-to-day construction field operations.ย  Ensure project conformance with all safety standards, building codes, plans, specifications, and best construction practices.
  • Clearly communicate with all individuals involved in your project whose functions require knowledge and understanding of subcontract requirements.
  • Identify and Maximize Efficiencies (Time / Cost).ย  Ensure timely project completion through project scheduling, expediting of material deliveries and the management of materials.
  • Initiate, establish and maintain working relationships with owner, architect, engineer, inspector and subcontractors to facilitate construction activities as well as future opportunities for repeat business.
  • Identify and Prepare RFI(s) for resolution by the design team, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Real-time notifications to PM of any revisions to the original subcontract estimate as a result of changes/revisions to the original scope of work
  • Achieve the highest level of Quality Assurance and Standards of Workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
  • Document all daily job site activities and conditions
  • Lead weekly subcontractor coordination and safety meetings. Proactively identify and resolve potential safety hazards.ย  Ensure strict adherence by all site personnel to OSHA, State and Federal, requirements.
  • Become proficient with software including but not limited to ProCore, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Continually participate in internal training sessions and remain focused on continuous improvement of the business. Be supportive of and mentor entire project support staff.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Jobsite.

Position Requirement

  • 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent
  • Ground Up Experience Required
  • High School/GED required / College degree preferred
  • Strong computer skills needed
  • Organized and Attention to Detail
  • High Performing / Self Driven Person
  • Understand and Routinely Meet Goal Objectives
  • Current driverโ€™s license / Reliable Vehicle
  • Must be able to pass Drug Test
  • Background Check Required (Educational / Institutional Projects)
  • MVR for Company Vehicle
  • Local and Traveling Work
  • Project Management and Leadership Skills (a plus)
