Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - CareVet of Columbus

About the Role
As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will be a vital member of our medical team, working closely with our veterinarians to deliver exceptional patient care. Our RVTs are empowered to practice at the top of their license while providing outstanding nursing care, client education, anesthesia monitoring, and technical support throughout every stage of a patient's visit.
We are looking for an RVT who is committed to continuous learning, clinical excellence, and helping elevate veterinary medicine within our hospital.
What You'll Do
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and obtain medical histories
  • Safely restrain and handle canine and feline patients using low-stress handling techniques
  • Collect blood, urine, fecal, cytology, and other diagnostic samples
  • Perform venipuncture and place intravenous catheters
  • Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as prescribed
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia while maintaining accurate anesthetic records
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide advanced nursing care
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, dentistry, and medical procedures
  • Perform dental prophylaxis and obtain diagnostic dental radiographs
  • Obtain high-quality digital radiographs
  • Educate clients regarding preventive care, medications, post-operative care, and treatment plans
  • Accurately maintain electronic medical records
  • Maintain surgical equipment, sterilization protocols, and treatment areas
  • Assist in mentoring Veterinary Assistants and supporting a collaborative team environment
What We're Looking For
Clinical Skills
  • Strong anesthesia monitoring and patient nursing skills
  • Surgical and dental experience preferred
  • Skilled in venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and radiology
  • Knowledge of pharmacology, pain management, and preventive medicine
  • Commitment to evidence-based medicine and patient safety
  • Fear Free® handling experience is a plus

  • Strong organizational and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining exceptional attention to detail

Qualifications
  • Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in the State of Ohio
  • Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technology program
  • One or more years of clinical experience preferred
  • Experience with anesthesia, surgery, dentistry, and hospitalized patient care preferred
  • Comfortable utilizing electronic medical records and veterinary software
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely assist with patient handling
