Job description

Position Summary
We are seeking a QA Specialist - Process Automation to join our Gifthealth team. This is an entry-level role on the QA team within Operations / Process Automation, built for a detail-oriented pharmacy technician who is eager to grow into the intersection of pharmacy operations and health technology. Working under the close direction of the QA Lead, the QA Specialist performs structured day-to-day quality checks across BestRx and Gifthealth's automation workflows, documents findings clearly and consistently, and flags issues for triage and escalation.
No prior QA or automation experience is required. Full training on systems, workflows, and documentation standards will be provided. What matters most is genuine attention to detail and the curiosity to ask why something does not look right.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structured daily quality checks within BestRx and connected software automation systems, reviewing for issues such as duplicate prescriptions, intake mismatches, and workflow errors.
  • Document issues clearly and consistently using standardized templates, capturing what the problem is, where it occurred, and what evidence supports the finding.
  • Escalate findings to the QA Lead with clear, organized documentation so the appropriate teams can act quickly.
  • Participate in testing of system fixes and workflow updates deployed by engineering, confirming that changes work as expected.
  • Maintain organized issue logs and follow up on open items to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Support the QA Lead in building training materials and QA best practice guides as the team grows.
  • Handle all work in compliance with HIPAA requirements and internal pharmacy privacy standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 0-2 years; new graduates and RPT trainees welcome. Prior QA or automation experience not required. Any pharmacy operations background is helpful context.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) credential required. Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential strongly preferred and will be prioritized in screening.
  • Skills (Required): Strong attention to detail; ability to stay organized across multiple open items simultaneously; clear written communication skills; willingness to learn new systems, processes, and tools; adherence to HIPAA requirements and pharmacy privacy standards.
  • Skills (Preferred): BestRx experience or familiarity with any pharmacy management system; experience in a retail, specialty, or mail-order pharmacy environment; basic troubleshooting instincts including a habit of documenting what was tried before escalating.
Desired Attributes
  • Meticulous by nature - catches what others miss and documents findings completely without needing to be reminded.
  • Curious when something looks wrong - investigates before escalating and documents what was tried.
  • Communicates clearly in writing - can describe an issue so that someone else understands exactly what happened, where, and why it matters, without follow-up questions.
  • Sees this role as an on-ramp into a more technical career - eager to grow and proactive about asking questions when something is unclear.
  • Comfortable with evolving processes - frames change as an opportunity to contribute rather than a source of frustration.
Work Environment
  • Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid or Remote).
  • Schedule: Full-time, salaried.
  • Work is performed primarily using computer-based systems. Regular collaboration with the QA Lead and interaction with engineering and pharmacy operations teams as needed.
Key Essential Functions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer-based quality checks and documentation tasks.
  • Must be able to work on a computer for the majority of the workday, including use of pharmacy management systems, issue-tracking tools, and documentation platforms.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in writing to document findings and escalate issues accurately.
  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts reliably and maintain focus and attention to detail throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to handle protected health information in compliance with HIPAA and internal privacy policies.
