Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for daily work at the jobsites of TP Mechanical Contractors. Work includes all types of pipefitting and welding. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the jobsite, including our subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.


Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics to determine pipe layouts and specifications.

Assemble, install, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures according to plumbing codes and standards.

Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes using hand tools or power tools such as pipe cutters, pipe threaders, and tube benders.

Weld or solder joints to secure pipes using welding equipment or soldering torches.

Inspect and test installed pipe systems and pipelines for leaks or defects.

Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as electricians and HVAC technicians, to ensure the proper installation of pipes.

Repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning pipes, valves, fittings, or fixtures.


Experience:

Minimum 5 years’ experience of pipefitting and welding in field plumbing operations

Completion of the apprenticeship program is preferred.


Job Skills:

Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and regulations

Proficient in reading and installing piping by interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

Ability to assemble, build, and plumb various types of piping systems.

Experience with rigging equipment for lifting heavy pipes or materials

Proficient in using measuring tools to ensure accurate pipe dimensions.

Ability to fabricate offsets and custom pipe fittings as needed.

Knowledge of general plumbing and piping installation.

Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.

Ability to plan and forecast people, material, and equipment needs.

Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.

Basic math skills

Ability to pass pipe certification test (S.M.A.W.)

Knowledge of hydronics and HVAC


Education:

High School or GED equivalent

Minimum of 150 hours in pipe welding courses.


Special Requirements:

Valid Driver’s License

Journeyman’s license if required.
