Job description

Hiring: Underground Utility Pipe Superintendent and Pipe Crew
Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Underground Utility Pipe Installers and Pipe Crew Members to install a variety of water, wastewater, and storm drainage pipeline systems. Candidates must have experience installing PVC, ductile iron, steel, reinforced concrete, and/ or bar-wrapped cylinder pipe ranging from 4 inches to 108 inches in diameter. The ideal candidate is safety-oriented, dependable, and capable of working efficiently as part of a construction crew on municipal and industrial infrastructure projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install underground water, sewer, storm drain, and transmission pipelines ranging from 4" to 108" diameter.
  • Install and assemble:
    • PVC Pipe
    • Steel Pipe
    • Bar-Wrapped Cylinder Pipe (BWCP)
    • Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP)
    • Ductile Iron Pipe (DIP)
    • High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), when required
  • Read and interpret construction plans, profiles, grades, and specifications.
  • Set pipe to proper line and grade using lasers, levels, and grade rods.
  • Prepare trenches and bedding materials according to project specifications.
  • Assist with rigging, lifting, and placement of large-diameter pipe using excavators, loaders, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
  • Install valves, fittings, manholes, vaults, hydrants, restrained joints, and mechanical joints.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, leakage testing, and pipeline inspections as required.
  • Backfill and compact trenches in accordance with project specifications.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience installing underground utility pipe.
  • Proven experience with pipe sizes ranging from 4 inches to 108 inches.
  • Knowledge of municipal water, sewer, and storm drainage construction.
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with laser grading and elevation control.
  • Experience working around excavations and trench boxes.
  • Strong understanding of safe rigging and material handling practices.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work in varying weather conditions.
