The Role and Expectations of Construction Pipe Layer

The Utility Pipe Layer plays a critical role in the success of the Hutchinson team. Every position within our organization is meaningful and contributes to the successful completion of projects. In this role, you will primarily install underground utility systems, including water, fire, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage piping. Team members will also gain experience in earthwork, soil stabilization, and concrete construction while working alongside knowledgeable and experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

 

·         Check and maintain proper grade and alignment for pipe installation.

·         Install underground utility systems, including:

o   Water mains and services

o   Fire line systems

o   Sanitary sewer systems

o   Storm drainage systems

·         Assist with rigging and signaling operations for lifting and placing materials

·         Safely operate and work around heavy construction equipment

·         Support survey, layout, and site measurement activities.

·         Perform site clean-up and maintain a safe, organized work environment

·         Learn to read, interpret, and build according to construction plans and specifications

·         Follow direction from Foreman and Superintendents

·         Adhere to all company policies, procedures development opportunities

Required Skills and Qualifications

·         Previous experience in utility construction, pipe laying, or heavy civil construction.

·         Familiarity with underground utility installations and grade checking.

·         Experience operating construction equipment.

·         Physical ability to perform demanding construction work in various weather conditions.

·         Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
