Job description

Weihe Construction, Inc. is searching for pipe layers with experience installing sanitary, storm and water lines in a residential or commercial setting.
Well-qualified candidates will have 4-5 years of experience installing underground utilities and be skilled performing the following tasks:
  • Setting up amp; maintaining pipe laser
  • Staging pipe
  • Rigging pipe
  • Beveling pipe
  • Greasing pipe
  • Figuring fall and slope / logging numbers
  • Setting structures
  • Setting barrel sections
  • Hand tool operation (impact drill / chop saw)
  • Potholing using shovel and VAC truck
Skills considered a plus, but are not required for this position:
  • Preventative maintenance on heavy equipment
  • Directional boring operation
  • Track/Wheel loader operation
  • Confined space work
    • Sanitary testing
    • Cutting out stairs
    • Manhole grouting
  • Mass excavation – heavy equipment operation (CAT 741, 621, 749, D6K)
Physical requirements: The Pipe Layer position is a physically demanding one which requires varying levels of physical fitness to perform essential job duties. This position requires employees to work on their feet on average 10 hours per day. The categories of physical requirements to perform the essential job duties of a pipe layer include lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Candidates must be able to regularly lift amp; lower on average 0-25lbs, maximum 75lbs. Additionally, candidates must be able to carry on average 0-40lbs, maximum 75lbs for an average distance of 5-40ft, maximum 100ft. Finally, candidates must be able to push amp; pull up and down on average 0-160lbf, maximum 160lbf and bilaterally on average 0-40lbf, maximum 40lbf.
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-5:00PM, Saturday 7:00AM-12:00PM -- average 55 hrs./week
