Job Summary
Concrete Industries, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated, hard working, reliable certified welder to join our team. This position performs skilled welding work in the fabrication and repair of precast concrete building construction with arc-welding equipment. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Work as directed, in the erection and welding of precast concrete building components.
Ensure all assigned equipment is maintained in safe, working order.
Fabricate weldments, embeds and sub-assemblies as directed.
Studies drawings to determine repairs or construction required.
Inspects job site; makes preparations to perform safe welding projects.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Welding Certification, Diploma, or Degree; and
  • related experience preferred, but not required; or
  • equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to become AWS-certified welder rated in, at least, flat and vertical weld in reasonable time after employment begins.

Other Qualifications:
  • Must have a good understanding of the principles and techniques of welding, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the welding trade.
  • Must have working knowledge of the properties of various kinds of metals.
  • Must be able to learn, understand and follow the safety policies of OSHA, NEBCO, and Concrete Industries.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season and work late or irregular hours.
  • Must be willing to continue training requirements required by the job.

Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively with employees of organization.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb or balance and work from raised work platform at heights up to 50'. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to repeatedly stoop, bend and lift. The employee may work in a bent-over position. Must be able to effectively communicate, and taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift 100 lbs. to a height of 48", turn twist and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus; must have good hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity. Must wear personal protective equipment--hard hat, steel toed shoes, gloves, eye protection, etc.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions in year round temperatures. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and irregular work surfaces, fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee will work with or around fresh concrete, cement dust, solvents, weld fumes and release agents without allergic reaction. The employee is also exposed to intense light created by the arc. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. The nature of the job will require working extended shifts as needed. The job may also require the employee to travel out of town with overnight stay required. This is a non-smoking facility and environment.
