Job description

Position Title: OH Terminal Manager

Position Reports to: Regional Director of Operations

Position Summary: The OH Terminal Manager leads all day-to-day operations at the Columbus terminal, with primary responsibility for home-daily driver operations. This role directly oversees 2 Driver Managers, 1 Load Planner, and a fleet of approximately 60 home-daily drivers. The Terminal Manager is accountable for safety performance, driver retention, on-time service execution, and terminal efficiency โ€” and serves as the senior on-site leader and primary point of contact for drivers, customers, and support functions.

Operations Management:
  • Manages all terminal functions including driver dispatch, load planning, yard management, and equipment utilization for home-daily operations.
  • Directly supervises driver management to ensure drivers are fully utilized and consistently meeting customer on-time pickup and delivery requirements.
  • Oversees load planning to align freight assignments with driver availability, customer commitments, and operational efficiency targets.


Driver Leadership & Retention:

  • Serves as the primary on-site company representative to professional drivers โ€” communicating expectations, building relationships, and actively working to retain safe, high-performing drivers.
  • Champions driver safety, productivity, and professional development; acts as an advocate for drivers while holding them accountable to West Side Transport standards.
  • Addresses driver concerns promptly and professionally; escalates issues to the Regional Director of Operations as appropriate.


People Management:

  • Oversees hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action for all terminal personnel including Driver Managers, Load Planner, and professional drivers.
  • Monitors workflow processes among staff and serves as the primary resource and escalation point for terminal team members.
  • Fosters a team environment consistent with West Side Transportโ€™s core values: Safety First, Respect & Appreciation, Teamwork, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.


Availability & Oversight:

  • Maintains dotted-line responsibility for the on-site maintenance facility, acting as the operational liaison between the terminal and the shop.
  • Serves as an operational point of contact for transport customers; provides information and support as needed to maintain and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Maintains a consistent on-site presence during primary operating hours sufficient to ensure the terminal is performing to standard.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of management experience, with at least 3 years in operations management.
  • Transportation or logistics industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of direct reports.
  • Strong communication skills โ€” written and verbal โ€” with the ability to interface effectively with professional drivers, peers, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Proven problem-solving ability in a fast-paced, high-accountability operational environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing home-daily or regional driver operations.
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations, CSA compliance, and driver qualification requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft ICC/AS400 or similar enterprise TMS platforms.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.
  • Sitting and entering data for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a terminal/ yard environment, including outdoor exposure.
