Job description

The Logistics Specialist at the Mid-Ohio Market assists with disbursing food items, curating and distributing healthy meal boxes, and facilitating education presentations and resources to students. This position provides exceptional customer service and is responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks associated with the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food products at the Mid-Ohio Market at Columbus State.
Logistics Operations Support
  • Follows all food safety guidelines for receiving storage and distribution. Assists with the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation of food distribution areas.
  • Picks/packs, loads/unloads, and maintains proper storage and distribution of perishable food products (frozen, refrigerated, and fresh foods).
  • Moves food from pallets to display shelving or refrigeration. Tracks and replenishes inventory during market services. Leads restoration of market after hours.

Customer Service
  • Supports Mid-Ohio Market services such as checking students in and assisting them in food pickup. Tracks inventory of food to ensure adequate supply. Assists the supervisor with food orders. Maintains a positive customer service atmosphere.
  • Utilizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and experience with student and customer issues. Assists in proactively addressing potential concerns, identifying potential barriers, and making appropriate referrals within Student Wellbeing and other campus and community resources.

Student Success
  • Develops and facilitates educational and awareness initiatives to increase student awareness of basic needs services. Distributes healthy meal boxes to in-need students.

  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma.
  • One (1) year of experience in a customer service position and general computer skills.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
