Job description

  • Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for patients according to written optical prescription or specification.
  • Work with EHR's and vision plans such as VSP and Eyemed.
  • Ordering and dispensing of eyewear and CL's
  • Contact lens instruction
  • Cross-training for pretesting of patients.
  • Process payments
  • Bill insurance
  • Check in glasses from lab using lensometer to ensure the rx, coatings, and any other options are correct
  • Adjust glasses for patients
  • Answer questions regarding lens options/issues
  • interact with lab, frame, and lens (spectacle and contact) representatives
  • Answer phone to: schedule patients, process contact orders and/or settlement of balances, answer basic questions regarding eye health and office procedures on a patient by patient basis. Answer more in depth questions regarding insurance, spectacles, and contacts.
  • Schedule patients, being mindful of procedures and length of service. Verify vision or medical insurance.
  • Tag incoming frames and update frame counts
  • Other general organizational tasks as needed

  • MUST understand Windows computers. We don't need you to be a programmer, but you should understand the basics of how computers work and have basic troubleshooting abilities.
  • MUST be knowledgeable with how insurance, vision especially, works.
  • Is able to accurately and efficiently type information into a computer.

  • Takes initiative
  • Is willing to learn- the more you know about things, the better you're able to help yourself, patients, and your coworkers.
  • Has knowledge of optometric coding

Our hours are Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 10-6. No weekends. Employees get PTO and a discount on glasses/contacts.
