Responsibilities
  • Uphold the Nurtur Core Values and Behaviors and Aveda Success Factors
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding that the salon/spa industry is "high touch" and requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to the needs of others
  • Greet clients in a timely and welcoming fashion, and walk them to their respective service station in the salon
  • Regular and effective communication with other staff members and clientele
  • Ability to follow direction and be coachable by Mentor and other members of Leadership
  • Assist your Mentor in all areas needed in relation to the service cycle
  • Arrive 20 minutes prior to your Mentor's assigned shift to begin preparation for the day
  • Remain on-time throughout the day and communicate any timing issues to your Mentor and a member of Leadership
  • Follow the Aveda Points of Difference service cycle with every guest as determined by Nurtur. The service cycle includes but is not limited to:
      • Reservation (scheduling of initial appointment)
      • Welcome (greet each guest with "Welcome to Nurtur" or "Welcome to Aveda", offer a beverage and/or tour of the salon and spa)
      • Consultation (discover needs of guest, outline products being used for the service to achieve results, offer visual tools for suggestions and clarify objective, quote pricing for service, discuss future maintenance, all with Mentor present to offer any support and clarification as needed)
      • Stress Relief Ritual (head, neck, and shoulder massage techniques in zero gravity chair or a hand and arm massage) o Shampoo Ritual (includes shampoo plus scalp massage)
      • Service Ritual (haircut and color)
      • Finishing Touch (quick makeup application, with Mentor present to offer any support and clarification as needed)
      • AVEDA Homecare (product recommendations, with Mentor present to offer any support and clarification as needed)
      • Save-the-Date (Re-booking and Nurtur Rewards)
  • Complete assigned salon tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • When not working on a Mentor-assigned task, stay productive by offering support to other Nurtur Professionals and/or Guest Care team members
  • Responsible for complying with the Nurtur Salon Assistant Agreement
  • Demonstrate knowledge on services and products, and accurately convey that information to guests following Mentor approval
  • Clean the color bar, sterilize working stations and tools, clean shampoo bowls and sinks, re-stock items as-needed, complete laundry tasks, sweep, clean, and keep the overall salon environment clean and welcoming
  • Provide any support to Mentor as needed and requested to ensure a satisfactory guest experience
  • Effectively educate guests on policies, products, services, promotions, and launches
  • Maintain all safety, security, and technological standards and identify and communicate potential problems, issues, and challenges to Leadership immediately
  • Participate in Aveda and Nurtur events including career fairs, marketing events, Earth Month, Beauty for a Cure, etc.
  • Perform all duties as assigned and/or required to meet business needs
  • Abide by all other Nurtur policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook and Code of Conduct

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Active Cosmetology license; continuing education maintained
  • Experience working as a stylist behind the chair
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Walk, stand up, and/or sit for up to eight (8) hours per day
  • Use hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms
  • Walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, speak, and hear
  • See a computer screen and read paper and electronic documents
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds
  • Tolerate a minimal to moderate noise level typical of a school setting
