Job description

The Gas Turbine Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of gas turbine-based power generation systems supporting mission‑critical data center infrastructure. This role represents the owner's interests across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover of on‑site power generation assets, ensuring safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational performance objectives are met.
The position requires deep technical understanding of gas turbine systems and balance‑of‑plant infrastructure, coupled with strong project management, coordination, and stakeholder leadership skills in high‑availability environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline
  • 7-10 years of experience managing power generation or energy infrastructure projects; experience supporting data centers, mission‑critical facilities, or industrial power plants required
  • Direct experience with gas turbine systems, including procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning
  • Experience with contractor, CM‑at‑Risk, or Owner's Rep delivery models
  • PMP, CCM, PE, or equivalent professional certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of gas turbines, generators, controls, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and balance‑of‑plant components
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate vendors, engineers, contractors, and operations personnel
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk‑mitigation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface with executives, engineers, contractors, vendors, and AHJs
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the full lifecycle of gas turbine power generation systems, including concept validation, detailed design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and operational turnover in support of mission‑critical data center facilities
  • Serve as the technical and project management lead for gas turbine packages and balance‑of‑plant systems, including generators, controls, exhaust, inlet air systems, fuel gas supply, heat recovery (if applicable), lube oil systems, and auxiliary skids
  • Review and validate basis‑of‑design, performance criteria, redundancy requirements, emissions limits, and reliability targets for gas turbine systems supporting Tier‑level data center operations
  • Coordinate and manage OEM and contractor's activities, including long‑lead procurement, fabrication schedules, factory acceptance testing (FAT), delivery logistics, site installation, and vendor‑led start‑up activities
  • Lead schedule integration of gas turbine milestones with overall data center construction, electrical distribution energization, commissioning, and phased turnover plans
  • Oversee QA/QC and safety activities related to turbine installation, alignment, piping, electrical terminations, controls, and mechanical completion in coordination with field teams and vendors
  • Manage cost control activities for gas turbine scope, including GMP buyout support, change order evaluation, cost forecasting, and identification of value‑engineering or cost‑avoidance opportunities without compromising availability or redundancy
  • Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, including SAT, performance testing, load testing, black‑start support (if applicable), and integration with electrical switchgear, UPS, and controls systems
  • Support and manage permitting and regulatory compliance related to gas turbine systems, including air quality permits, emissions testing, fuel system approvals, and AHJ inspections
  • Identify and actively manage technical, schedule, and operational risks associated with gas turbine systems, including fuel availability, emissions constraints, acoustics, vibration, and maintenance access
  • Lead gas turbine-related coordination meetings, provide clear reporting on system readiness and risk, and support project closeout through completion of punchlists, O&M manuals, training, and turnover to operations and maintenance teams
