Business Development Manager (K-12) — Fanning Howey

Fanning Howey designs innovative learning environments across the country through a collaborative team of architects, engineers, interior designers, and planners dedicated to shaping the future of education. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help expand our presence in the K-12 educational facilities market and strengthen strategic client relationships.

About the Role / Ohio Market Focus:

This role is specifically focused on business development efforts within the Ohio K-12 education market. The primary objective is to strengthen relationships, identify opportunities, and grow Fanning Howey's presence within Ohio. Expansion into other markets may evolve in the future, but the current emphasis is exclusively on Ohio-based opportunities.

This position plays a critical role in driving firm growth by identifying opportunities, building trusted partnerships, and positioning Fanning Howey for success in competitive pursuits. You will work closely with firm leadership, marketing professionals, and technical teams to cultivate prospects, guide pursuit strategies, and develop a strong pipeline aligned with our long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and strategically position opportunities in the K-12 education sector
  • Build and maintain relationships with school districts, partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Lead early pursuit positioning and capture planning before RFQ/RFP release
  • Maintain a qualified opportunity pipeline aligned with revenue goals
  • Support proposal development, interview preparation, and pursuit strategies
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and community engagements
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and technical teams to advance pursuits

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, construction, or related field
  • ~8+ years of business development experience, preferably in A/E/C professional services
  • Experience navigating publicly funded design/construction procurement processes
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and strategic thinking skills
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • K-12 sector experience strongly preferred
