Job description

Position Summary:
The Senior Load Planner is responsible for coordinating and planning transportation logistics for both inbound and outbound freight across multiple business divisions. This role manages carrier communication, load optimization, and system updates in SAP, OTM, and related logistics systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in freight modes, transportation systems, and cross-functional coordination to ensure on-time, cost-effective shipping execution.
Job Duties:
  • Coordinate truckload shipping with Line Haul Carriers and FedEx (Line Haul, Freight, Small Package)
  • Communicate with carriers to secure transportation and update Transportation Management Systems (OTM), shipping manifests, Bills of Lading, and calendars
  • Conduct inbound and outbound load planning for multiple business units
  • Maintain Excel-based calendars and dock schedules
  • Collaborate with peers and supervisors to support smooth workflow
  • Monitor and report trends/issues to proactively avoid shipment delays
  • Provide timely information to internal and external stakeholders
  • Promote cross-departmental collaboration and clear communication
  • Review POs and Stock Transfer Orders to create SAP deliveries

Education and Experience:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain planning (required)
  • Proficient in SAP (especially EWM), OTM, OMS, and related transportation/logistics systems
  • Strong understanding of freight modes: small package, LTL, and TL
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams proficiency

Knowledge:
  • Clerical: Knowledge of MS Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word; managing files, records, and related systems
  • Customer Service: Understanding the principles of quality service delivery and internal/external customer support

Skills:
  • Active Listening: Attention to detail in verbal communication and appropriate follow-up
  • Critical Thinking: Use of logic and analysis to evaluate solutions and outcomes
  • Judgment & Decision Making: Assess cost-benefit of actions to choose best course
  • Time Management: Prioritize and manage workload in deadline-driven environment
  • Teamwork: Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Time Sharing: Switch between tasks and data sources efficiently

Abilities:
  • Oral/Written Communication: Understand, interpret, and convey information clearly
  • Problem Sensitivity: Recognize when an issue arises, even if the solution is unclear
  • Deductive Reasoning: Apply general rules to specific issues to find accurate solutions
  • Inductive Reasoning: Identify patterns or connections in seemingly unrelated data
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and mouse
    • Prolonged sitting and repetitive hand/wrist movement

  • 3-5+ years in transportation/logistics/supply chain
  • Proficient in SAP (EWM), OTM, OMS
  • Expertise in freight modes (LTL, TL, small parcel)
  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and related office software
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a high-paced, team-oriented environment
