Job description

Ice Miller seeks a litigation attorney to join our litigation practice group in either our Cleveland or Columbus office. Ideal candidates will have at least five (5) years of experience and a demonstrated ability to independently manage cases, develop and execute litigation strategy, and handle substantive litigation responsibilities from inception through resolution. Candidates should possess strong litigation skills including independently drafting pleadings, managing, and responding to discovery, conducting legal research and analysis, preparing witnesses, and taking and defending depositions. Meaningful deposition and courtroom experience is strongly preferred.
About the Role:
Ice Miller is seeking an attorney with a minimum of 5 years of litigation experience to join our Columbus or Cleveland office and become part of a team that represents clients in a variety of litigation matters around the country. This role is ideal for a lawyer who wants significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to take ownership of matters rather than serve solely in a supporting role.
Successful candidates will have excellent legal research and writing skills, strong oral advocacy abilities, sound judgment, and the confidence to independently move matters forward while collaborating effectively with attorneys across the firm. This is a non-partnership track position that offers significant flexibility with respect to billable hours while providing meaningful opportunities for professional growth, deposition experience, and courtroom advocacy.
Responsibilities:
  • Interact directly with clients, participate in case strategy discussions, and assume substantial responsibility for executing litigation strategy
  • Collaborate with talented and team-oriented attorneys across offices
  • Independently manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, witness preparation, and case management
  • Take and defend depositions and prepare fact and expert witnesses for testimony
  • Appear in court, handle hearings, argue motions, and assume other stand-up advocacy opportunities
  • Exercise independent judgment, proactively identify issues and solutions, and drive cases forward with appropriate supervision and support

Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
  • At least five (5) years of experience practicing law in a law firm and in-house environment
  • Active law license in Ohio
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and business judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States

What We Offer:
  • Competitive compensation in a collegial, mid-size firm environment
  • Quality benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement programs
  • One-on-one career coaching and professional development programming
  • A supportive culture centered on mentorship, advancement, and innovation
  • The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $140,000 based on experience, plus opportunities for discretionary and hours-based bonuses

Please include a resume listing all significant and relevant experiences, a cover letter, and a law school transcript.
We are not accepting third party submissions for this role.
