Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an Immigration Associate with 2–4 years of experience to join a nationally recognized Labor & Employment practice. This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney looking to build a sophisticated employment-based immigration practice while advising employers on complex workforce mobility, immigration compliance, and global talent strategies.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling employment-based immigration matters, including temporary work visas, permanent residency applications, and employer compliance counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Advise employers on a wide range of employment-based immigration matters.
  • Prepare and file nonimmigrant visa petitions, including:
    • H-1B
    • L-1A
    • L-1B
    • E-2
    • TN
    • O-1
  • Manage employment-based permanent residency matters, including:
    • PERM labor certifications
    • I-140 immigrant petitions
    • I-485 adjustment of status applications
  • Counsel employers on I-9 compliance, E-Verify requirements, and related immigration compliance issues.
  • Monitor changes in immigration laws and regulations and provide practical guidance to clients.
  • Manage multiple immigration matters simultaneously while ensuring timely filings and exceptional client service.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop effective immigration strategies for domestic and international workforces.
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active admission to the Ohio Bar.
  • 2–4 years of employment-based immigration experience.
  • Experience preparing and filing temporary work visa petitions and employment-based permanent residence applications.
  • Experience advising employers on I-9 compliance and E-Verify requirements.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employment-based immigration matters with minimal supervision.
  • Strong client counseling and project management skills.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with outstanding interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and develop practical, business-focused solutions.
