Description:

The Local Mental Wellness Program Coordinator supports the implementation and growth of mental wellness initiatives within a designated city or region. This role is responsible for coordinating local programming, building community relationships, managing participant engagement, and supporting the mission of the African American Male Wellness Agency (AAMWA) to improve mental health outcomes for African American men.

Program Coordination

  • Create and manage a local Mental Wellness Committee composed of community leaders, mental health professionals, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Real Men Real Talk sessions and other wellness events in the local market.
  • Ensure alignment of local programming with national mental wellness strategies and goals.
  • Plan and execute programs in alignment with scope of service, timelines, and funding requirements.
  • Support logistics, curriculum implementation, and event execution for mental wellness programming.

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Build relationships with local organizations, faith leaders, and stakeholders to promote mental wellness initiatives.
  • Conduct outreach to increase awareness and participation in local events.
  • Represent AAMWA at community meetings, health fairs, and public forums to advocate for mental wellness.
  • Connect participants to community partners and resources.

Participant Engagement & Database Management

  • Develop and maintain a local participant database to track engagement, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Nurture relationships with participants through consistent communication and follow-up.
  • Connect participants to community partners and resources.
  • Oversee collection of required data and ensure timely input into designated systems (e.g., QuickBase).
  • Use data insights to improve programming and report on local impact.

Marketing & Promotion

  • Promote local events through social media, email campaigns, and community partnerships.
  • Distribute promotional materials and coordinate with local media outlets as needed.
  • Support the growth of the Real Men Real Talk community through digital and in-person engagement.

Training & Support

  • Assist in training volunteers and committee members on mental wellness best practices.
  • Promote culturally competent approaches to mental health education and support.
  • Facilitate support groups and assist with participant engagement activities.

Reporting & Evaluation

  • Collect and report data on program attendance, participant feedback, and community impact.
  • Contribute to local and national reports on mental wellness outcomes.
  • Provide recommendations for program improvement based on community needs and feedback.
  • Monitor progress to ensure grant and partnership objectives are met or exceeded.


Requirements:
  • Passion for mental wellness and community empowerment.
  • Experience in program coordination, community outreach, or mental health advocacy.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the African American community and culturally responsive practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data systems (e.g., QuickBase) preferred.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
