Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in health education, public health, wellness, student affairs, or a related field and three (3) years of job-related experience in health education, peer education, student programming, or related areas.

Job Summary:

The Student Wellness Program Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs and activities that foster a culture of well-being for students.   This position plays a key role in supporting student well-being programs, coordinating intramural and recreation activities, and providing health promotion education and outreach. 

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.  Must be flexible to work occasional evening or weekend hours supporting events and programs.

Job Duties: 

Develop, implement, and sustain student health and well-being programs. 

  • Coordinate prevention and outreach events designed to improve student health and well-being.
  • Develop and deliver health promotion education, presentations, workshops, and tabling events for students.
  • Create and distribute wellness-related educational content and campaigns.
  • Coordinate health promotion outreach to academic programs, including classroom presentations and curriculum-integrated wellness initiatives.
  • Coordinate intramural and recreation activities that promote physical activity and student engagement.

Collaborate and serve as a liaison with key partners to enhance student wellness. 

  • Collaborate with campus departments, committees, vendors, and community organizations to expand the reach and impact of wellness programming.
  • Partner with student organizations, student leaders, and other identified populations to develop and implement well-being initiatives.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and supervision of student staff and Wellness Ambassadors, supporting leadership development and program implementation.

Support departmental operations, events and special projects as needed. 

  • Provide general support to students seeking wellness-related resources and referrals.
  • Manage and respond to incoming requests for wellness education presentations, tabling events, and outreach collaborations.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, participation, and evaluation data.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Moderate skills in communication both oral and written; use of current and emerging technologies to deliver services.
  • Moderate to strong knowledge of UTMB and UT System policies and procedures.
  • Position may involve light physical activity related to intramural or wellness events.
  • Competent use of personal computers and general office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook electronic mail.
  • Ability to manage projects and organize work.
  • Develop ideas and programs to meet customer needs.
  • Competent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Experience collaborating and integrating Employee Health & Wellness and Human Resource programs for delivery of services to meet customer needs.
  • Experience in program development related to UTMB’s diverse and geographically widespread workforce.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience.
