We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented technician to join our dynamic Corrosion and Environmental Testing group. This is a unique opportunity to apply your experience in environmentally assisted cracking, corrosion and materials testing to support a wide variety of fast-paced, client-driven R&D projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Execute billable project work according to project scope, deliverables, timeline and overall customer expectations
  • Offer input for internal Research & Development projects
  • Demonstrate understanding of fracture mechanics principles including fatigue crack growth, fracture toughness, S/N initiation testing, and slow strain rate testing in hydrogen and COโ‚‚ environments
  • Operate complex, multi-parameter laboratory systems safely in environments involving hazardous gases (Hโ‚‚, COโ‚‚, Hโ‚‚S, NOx, SOx)
  • Conduct crack growth measurement using direct current potential drop (DCPD) instrumentation
  • Execute flow-assisted corrosion testing using rotating cage electrode and rotating cylinder electrode systems
  • Have a general familiarity with corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement mechanisms

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Office environment and laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;
  • Use finger and hand dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, grip, manipulate, and measure;
  • Use vision to see, analyze, and adjust;
  • Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stand, stoop, bend and crouch; and
  • Lift ten to 30 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 to 80 pounds occasionally

EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Associate's or technology degree in relevant area of study is considered favorable

EXPERIENCE:
  • One (1) or more years' experience with environmentally assisted cracking test procedures
  • Three (3) years of experience operating mechanical test equipment
