Vibration Engineer, Environmental Testing
Location: Parsippany, NJ, On-Site
Production Engineer – Vibration
Job Summary
The Production Engineer – Vibration supports the manufacturing and qualification testing of Marotta products by leading vibration and environmental testing activities within the mechanical testing laboratory. This role is responsible for operating and optimizing electrodynamic vibration and thermal test systems, developing test fixtures, analyzing test data, and supporting production acceptance testing of valves, power electronics, and control actuation systems.
Essential Responsibilities
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Operate and manage electrodynamic vibration and thermal test systems to verify manufacturing quality and dynamic performance of aerospace components.
  • Develop, configure, and execute vibration and environmental test profiles based on engineering and customer specifications.
  • Program and configure test software and instrumentation to ensure accurate test execution and data acquisition.
  • Design and implement vibration test fixtures and tooling to support production acceptance testing.
  • Analyze dynamic response and vibration behavior of products to identify performance characteristics or potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot test setups and equipment to ensure proper test execution and data reliability.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and procedures to support test preparation and product evaluation.
  • Document all test results and maintain accurate test records in accordance with engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate test failures, identify root causes, and support corrective action efforts in collaboration with Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing efforts to improve testing efficiency and throughput.
  • Maintain and support testing equipment, instrumentation, and transducers, coordinating maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new products, programs, or testing requirements into the production environment.
  • Communicate testing results, observations, and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical vibrations, structural dynamics, or environmental testing.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, engineering specifications, and test procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with recurring test operations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government contract requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electrodynamic vibration systems or environmental testing equipment.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, accelerometers, and dynamic measurement instrumentation.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, failure investigation, and corrective action processes.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
Work Environment
This position operates in both laboratory and manufacturing environments and requires interaction with production teams, technicians, and engineers. Employees may be exposed to conditions typical of manufacturing and testing environments including moving mechanical parts, noise, vibration, airborne particles, and industrial equipment. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
This is a full-time position, and overtime or weekend work may be required depending on production schedules. Limited travel (approximately 5–10%) may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout manufacturing and lab environments.
  • Ability to lift, push, or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands to handle tools, equipment, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to work around vibration test equipment and instrumentation.
Pay Range: 77,500 to $90,000 annually
This position is at our Parsippany, NJ office location.
