A leader in the commercial construction industry, is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Business Development Professional to join our highly experienced and tenured team. In this critical role, you will be a crucial element in driving new business opportunities, both building new and strengthening existing client relationships, as well as promoting our Clients Construction's expertise in both fully defined Design (conventional "Bid-Build" Projects) to Conceptual/Design Development (construction management projects).
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with our clients Construction's overall goals and objectives that serves the markets in which the firm is currently engaged, that include areas of Ohio and Indiana.
  • Identify, qualify, and cultivate leads for the pre-sell of new construction projects, utilizing a proactive approach that leverages industry knowledge, networking, and market research. This position will work closely with operational leaders of each market sector to nurture these leads.
  • In conjunction with marketing and operational personnel the candidate will assist in the preparation of compelling proposals and presentations that effectively showcase the companies capabilities and competitive advantages for Construction Management at Risk, and Design-Build project deliveries.
  • Manage the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to project award, including proposal development, pricing negotiations, and contract finalization.
  • Foster strong relationships with key decision-makers at potential clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other industry professionals.
  • Represent at industry events, conferences, and trade shows, building brand awareness and generating new business opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the marketing department, represent at outreach events for the fostering of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collaborate and report with internal teams across various departments, including estimating, operations, marketing, and project management, to assist in the establishment of standards while ensuring a seamless and coordinated approach to new project development.
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and construction best practices, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of the industry.
  • Analyze project win/loss data and identify areas for continuous improvement within the business development process.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or a degree in a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-10+ years of experience in construction business development, with a proven track record of success in securing new projects.
  • Extrovert personality with a demonstrated expertise in the commercial construction marketplace servicing all contract delivery methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, pre-construction services, and project budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate value proposition to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), InDesign (not required but a plus), Cosential (CRM) or otherwise computer efficient to be proficient in these tools.
  • Ability to travel as needed. While the home base will be considered Columbus, Ohio the candidate will also be responsible for fulfillment of the role for our Indianapolis office as well. Candidate and executive management will ultimately define the parameters of travel to fulfill the intended duties of the position.
