About the role:
The Associate Field Service Technician is an entry-level Field Service Technician (FST) position responsible for supporting the installation, maintenance, and service of Boston Scientific medical systems and devices. This is a hands-on, field-based role designed to build foundational technical skills in a customer-facing environment.
In this role, you will partner with experienced Field Service Technicians to learn how to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex medical equipment while delivering high-quality service to healthcare providers. You will contribute to customer satisfaction by supporting equipment performance, assisting with user training, and responding to service needs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams may include support for service events, documentation, and customer inquiries.
As part of your development, you will receive structured training and mentorship from senior team members. Over time, you will begin managing service activities within an assigned territory with guidance, progressing toward independent field service responsibility.
This role supports Boston Scientific's MedSurg Division, including products such as the Lumenis Holmium and CO Laser Systems, as well as the GreenLight XPS Laser Systems.
The selected candidate will reside near Columbus, OH and travel to support training and service needs across the Central Region.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Instruct customers on system operation and maintenance.
- Act as company liaison with customers for administrative and technical matters.
- Address problems of diverse scope as a Field Service Technician.
- Exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solutions within defined practices and policies.
- Perform service activities including maintenance, modification, recalibration, and repair of Boston Scientific's Capital Equipment and accessories both in the field and in-house, as well as third-party capital equipment.
- Report all service activities using dedicated forms.
- Ensure customer satisfaction with BSC equipment and service.
- Adhere to applicable standard operating procedures to meet quality and regulatory commitments of Boston Scientific.
Required qualifications:
- Associate's degree (AA/AS) or technical diploma in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant technical experience demonstrating the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Examples of equivalent combinations may include (but are not limited to):
- High School Diploma/GED with completion of a formal technical training program (e.g., electronics, biomedical equipment, or military technical training)
- High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, or maintaining mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems (e.g., automotive systems, equipment repair, field service, or similar technical work)
- Internship, apprenticeship, or vocational training involving technical equipment or systems with hands-on troubleshooting or repair experience
- Examples of equivalent combinations may include (but are not limited to):
- Basic understanding of electronic systems, including analog and digital circuitry
- Ability to learn troubleshooting and servicing of complex technical or medical equipment
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
- Ability to travel approximately 75% of the time, including occasional short-notice travel
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
Preferred qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Prior internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in a technical, biomedical, or field service environment
- Exposure to hospital or clinical environments
- Familiarity with lasers, optics, or medical device technology
- Coursework or certification in Laser Technology, Electronics, or Biomedical Engineering
