Job Title: Batch Operator - $28/hr

Job Description

This role involves operating in a paint manufacturing facility to support the batching, mixing, and compounding of paint products. You will work with raw materials, follow detailed batch instructions, and perform a variety of production, material handling, and housekeeping tasks. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to learn multiple duties, and flexibility to work across different shifts in a unionized environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform batching and compounding activities to produce paint products according to established procedures and batch records.
  • Operate mixers, blenders, and other process equipment to blend and mix raw materials into finished or intermediate products.
  • Measure and weigh raw materials accurately to ensure correct formulation and quality of each batch.
  • Select and stage orders for production, ensuring the correct part numbers and raw materials are used for each job.
  • Handle a variety of raw materials and components, keeping materials organized and clearly labeled to avoid errors.
  • Clean out tanks, mixers, and related equipment between batches to maintain product integrity and prevent cross-contamination.
  • Perform general material handling duties, including moving materials and products safely around the production area.
  • Assist with janitorial and general housekeeping tasks to keep the production area clean, safe, and organized.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and quality procedures to maintain consistent product quality.
  • Review and follow batch records and process instructions with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Support overall production operations as a process operator, adjusting to a variety of tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and support peak-season demand.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and plant policies while working in a unionized manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in chemical operations or compounding within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to perform batching, blending, and mixing processes using industrial equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail when working with multiple part numbers and raw materials.
  • Capability to accurately measure and weigh raw materials for batch production.
  • Comfort working in a union environment and following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained on a variety of job duties and production processes.
  • Ability to read and follow batch records, process instructions, and quality procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness of equipment and work areas.
  • Reliability and flexibility to work any shift as needed.

Work Environment

The facility is a clean, well-organized paint manufacturing plant equipped with a variety of paint mixers and large paint containers. The operation focuses on producing paint used for the interior of metal food cans and for commercial and industrial buildings. The plant is currently very busy due to increased demand during the construction season, creating a fast-paced environment with steady production needs. Work is performed in a unionized setting with multiple shifts available: first shift runs from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Friday, second shift runs from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Monday through Friday, and third shift runs from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM Sunday through Thursday. Employees work around industrial mixing and batching equipment and are expected to maintain a clean and orderly workspace in line with plant standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53352.00 - $55016.00/yr.
