Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sheraton Suites Columbus/Worthington is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our leadership team. This position plays a key role in the financial success of the hotel by ensuring accurate accounting records, timely financial reporting, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial records and reports.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger activity.
  • Process accounts payable and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Review and audit revenue reports, cash deposits, and hotel transactions.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost control and process improvement.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Support property leadership with financial reporting and operational analysis.
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting and operational teams as needed.
  • Assist with audits and provide requested documentation.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience; hospitality accounting experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems.
  • Experience with hotel management systems and Marriott reporting platforms preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
