    • Possibly helping to develop new AI tools to speed the reporting on our products.
    • Participate in training sessions that help Vertiv product designers and material procurement teams globally to understand and implement sustainability.
  2. Data Collection and Reporting: You can't change what you can't measure first.
    • Collect, analyze, and validate PRODUCT sustainability-related data (e.g., Bill of Materials, energy usage, waste, and emissions documentation from parts, packaging, or electronic component suppliers).
    • Understanding our Customers' Requirements for sustainable materials and practices and the timing of our reporting requirements.
    • Understanding documentation required by standards such as ISO 14040/14044 and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in compliance with ISO 14025.
    • Understanding the reporting requirements of the EU's new Digital Product Passport Standard and it's use to digitally publish Product Carbon Footprints, absence of Toxins and PFAS.  You may also be involved in the archiving, analysis, and digital publishing of that data via QR codes affixed to each product and/or packaging at the factory.
  3. Sustainability Assessment and Analysis:
    • Assist in calculating carbon footprints and identifying carbon emissions reduction strategies.
    • Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for products and processes.
    • Support environmental impact assessments for projects.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of sustainability principles, frameworks, and standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI).
  • Quick Learner and Result-oriented by providing quality detailed deliverables.
  • Understanding the difference between Product Operating Emissions and Product Embodied Emissions
  • Ability to rapidly switch from one project to another as priorities change.
  • Familiarity with Life Cycle Carbon Assessment is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability related Engineering, either Mechanical or Electrical, Carbon Accounting, or a related field.
  • The ability to balance a passion for Sustainability while at the same time having the technical skills and an understanding of how corporations and imperfect human networks operate so you can work with those mechanisms (or innovate new mechanisms) to make progress towards Emissions Reductions.
  • Preferred knowledge of sustainability reporting standards (e.g., ISO 14040, 14044 & 14025) utilized for Environmental Product Declarations.
