Job description

Position Overview
The Apprentice is responsible for assisting in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems. With assistance, the Apprentice will read and interpret blueprints and specifications and use the information to install new systems and troubleshoot existing systems. The Apprentice needs familiarity with various types of electrical systems, fixtures, and components. They must be able to repair and install electrical equipment and fixtures using a variety of tools and techniques with assistance. The work of all field associates also requires them to conform to OSHA safety requirements in the safe use of power tools, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and material handling equipment.

While the requirements of the role may vary from time to time, the major specific duties include:
  • Transporting yourself, your tools, and your safety equipment to job sites
  • Read and interpret blueprints with assistance
  • Use a variety of tools and techniques to install electrical system components
  • Ensure top quality electrical installations which meet NEC and owner requirements
  • Test installations for proper function and safety with assistance
  • Follow a neat and process-oriented work style
  • Work in all elements at all times of year, including rain, snow, heat, and cold
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driverโ€™s license
  • Enrolled in IEC Apprentice Program
Necessary Physical Functions
  • Must be able to constantly move on feet for a full day assignment
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, kneel, balance, pull, and reach above head
  • Must be able to lift 51 pounds
  • Must climb ladders of all types
  • Must be able to complete overhead for full day assignments
  • Must be able to transition from employee parking area or street to construction areas and gain access to all levels of the building even if the only means of access is an OSHA approved construction ladder or stairs still under construction
  • Must possess good vision (normal and corrected 20/40 minimum) and be able to distinguish color
  • Must carry personal tools at all times (waist tool belt weighing approximately 30 lbs.)
  • Must be able to perform work at various heights, up to 90โ€™, from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, or other safe working areas
Tools and Equipment
  • Apprentices are to supply and carry their own small tools during all Kings Electric Services work hours. Any power tools or large tools are provided by Kings Electric Services and checked out to each associate.
