Group: Civil/Site

Position: Project Manager

Location: Columbus, OH (on site)

The Project Manager – Civil Group is responsible for leading civil/site development and municipal infrastructure projects from concept through construction. This role requires strong technical expertise, proven project management skills, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams while maintaining positive client relationships.


The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for clients, manages project financial performance, oversees design delivery, and leads permitting and approval processes.


Technical & Design Leadership

  • Demonstrate mastery of all Project Engineer responsibilities and technical requirements.
  • Serve as a technical expert, providing direction on design constraints, engineering best practices, and project-specific issues.
  • Lead design teams in developing civil/site plans, grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater management solutions.
  • Oversee QA/QC efforts and deliver high-quality design packages to the Team Leader for final review.
  • Lead the permitting and approval process, including coordinating with agencies and submitting applications.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Establish project schedules, deliverables, and milestones to meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines while monitoring progress against established objectives.
  • Conduct weekly project staffing assessments and delegate tasks appropriately to Staff Engineers, Senior Staff Engineers, and Technicians.
  • Attend project-related public hearings, meetings, and coordination sessions as needed.
  • Manage and oversee $500k–$1M+ in annual revenue across assigned projects.
  • Book a minimum of $250k of revenue on an annual basis.
  • Manage the financial components of assigned projects, including revenue recognition, invoicing, billing procedures, and cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader to manage accounts receivable and address billing or payment issues.

 Client & Business Development

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, effectively managing relationships and expectations.
  • Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project alignment and timely updates.
  • Identify and pursue new business development opportunities in coordination with leadership.
  • Represent the firm professionally through client interactions, presentations, and community engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE required).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive civil/site design or municipal infrastructure experience.
  • Mastery of Project Engineer responsibilities and demonstrated project leadership experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design tools.
  • Expertise in grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and site engineering standards.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, local municipal codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Ability to review, approve, and provide direction on design documents and technical analyses.
