General Description and Qualifications Now hiring for the 2026-2027 school year. If you're looking for a Monday through Friday part-time job with predictable hours and enjoy working with children, we have an opportunity for you. The City of Grove City is currently seeking caring, compassionate and motivated individuals to staff our P.A.R.K
program. The Grove City Parks and Recreation Department (GCPRD) has an extended history of providing recreation-based childcare for South-Western City School District students. P.A.R.K., an acronym for Programmed After-School Recreation for Kids, offers a safe, affordable place for elementary school-aged students to stay mentally, socially, and physically active in the school they attend
The reason the P.A.R.K. program has been successful for over 30 years is because of the P.A.R.K. leaders who make a difference in the lives of our P.A.R.K
children and families. Details: Typical work hours: 2:15 pm to 6:15 pm, Monday-Friday when South-Western City Schools are in session. This means when school it out, you have the day off - includes snow days, holiday breaks, teacher in-service, and more.
Program locations: Buckeye Woods, J.C. Sommer, Highland Park, Monterey, and Richard Avenue Elementary Schools. Maximum hours scheduled per week: 28 (but typically 20-22 hours) Starting salary: $17.85 per hour What does the P.A.R.K
Leader actually do. Plan and lead students in grades K-4 in activities including daily crafts or games, community building, outdoor recess, indoor free time, open gym, and other programming for children. The P.A.R.K
Leader under the immediate supervision of the Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the development, organization, and execution of a well-balanced, diversified program of activities during P.A.R.K. (Programmed Afterschool Recreation for Kids). The P.A.R.K
Leader shall be chosen solely on the basis of their qualifications, and as shown by the adequacy of their successful experience and training. Requirements: At least 18 years of age and has a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with children.
Must maintain reliable and punctual attendance. Has proven ability in oral and written communications. Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.
Has the ability to follow direction, provide necessary services and enforce stated rules and regulations. The ability to plan and provide appropriate school age activities and have a basic understanding of child development and group management. The City of Grove City is a Drug Free Workplace.
All candidates who receive an offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for commonly used drugs, including marijuana. Essential Functions of the Position The P.A.R.K. Leader shall have the following powers and duties under the appropriate immediate supervisor: Represent the City of Grove City Parks and Recreation Department and PARK program in a positive and professional manner
Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Plan, participate in, and maintain constant supervision of all activities including daily games, community building, snacks, outdoor recess, indoor free time, open gym, and other programming for children. Assist the P.A.R.K
Site Manager with daily operations, reports, and records. Work as part of a team to create a positive environment where children can learn about themselves, interact with peers, and experience success. Possess good communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude.
Greet and engage each child and family professionally. Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children following set policies and procedures. Clean and maintain the program space and equipment daily.
Use positive behavior management including clear and consistent expectations for behavior, positive feedback, and redirection. Make site manager aware of all incidents and injuries, complete written documentation for incidents and injuries. Actively interact with children individually while maintaining control of the entire group.
Position themselves for optimal interactions and supervision of children. Attend site meetings twice a month; participate in training including CPR, First Aid, AED, communicable disease, and child abuse recognition. Fulfilling responsibilities for the primary site to which they are assigned and traveling to different sites on an as-needed basis at the direction of the P.A.R.K
Coordinator/ Supervisor. Follow policies and procedures of the PARK program as outlined in the staff and parent handbook. Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions and Equipment Operated The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); ascends and/or descends stairs; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 30 lbs or less. Note: In accordance with the U.S
Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered light work. The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Personal computer, computer software (e.g., Civic Rec, City View, GBS, Microsoft Office), printer, copy machine, fax machine, and other standard business office equipment.
