Work Location: Savannah River Site (SRS)
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance Required

Position Overview

EGS is seeking a Senior Project Construction Manager to lead construction execution for multiple complex, multi-million-dollar projects supporting operations at the Savannah River Site (SRS). This position is responsible for managing all aspects of construction projects and assigned maintenance activities from conceptual design through project completion, with primary responsibility for safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance.

The selected candidate will provide leadership to project teams, establish construction execution strategies, manage construction personnel and matrix resources, oversee subcontracted construction activities, and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. This role requires extensive experience in construction management, project planning, subcontract administration, and construction strategy development within large industrial or DOE environments. 


ResponsibilitiesConstruction Management
  • Manage all aspects of multiple complex, multi-million-dollar construction projects and maintenance activities.
  • Direct projects from conceptual design through construction completion.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, within approved budgets, and in accordance with established schedules.
  • Establish and maintain project cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Optimize construction efficiency by providing construction input throughout conceptual design, design, construction, turnover, and project completion phases.
  • Perform complex analyses of construction-related issues and develop innovative solutions to achieve project milestones. 
Project Leadership
  • Lead multidisciplinary construction teams supporting major capital projects.
  • Assign and manage project personnel and matrix resources.
  • Establish goals, priorities, performance expectations, and construction management philosophies.
  • Provide leadership, career development, performance management, motivation, and salary administration for assigned employees.
  • Chair project review boards supporting construction strategies, design reviews, cost evaluations, and schedule development. 
Construction Strategy & Contract Administration
  • Develop construction execution strategies for capital projects.
  • Develop acquisition strategies for subcontracted construction and Design/Build contracts.
  • Develop and support large construction contract packages.
  • Provide oversight of major construction subcontract execution as required.
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize subcontract policies, procedures, guidelines, and construction documentation.
  • Support constructability reviews and Title II engineering support activities for capital projects. 
Cost, Schedule & Risk Management
  • Establish and control project cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Perform construction risk analyses and establish project priorities.
  • Evaluate construction strategies and recommend alternative approaches to improve project execution.
  • Support project planning, forecasting, and construction scheduling activities. 
Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Prepare and deliver concise oral and written presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate construction status, schedule updates, project changes, technical issues, and financial impacts.
  • Coordinate with engineering, project controls, construction, subcontractors, and customer organizations throughout project execution.
  • Foster a culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, and project excellence. 


Required QualificationsEducation & Experience

One of the following combinations is required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with 15-17 years of practical construction experience.
  • Associate's degree with 17-19 years of practical construction experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 19-21 years of relevant construction experience.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management and tactical project planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction management, cost control, scheduling, subcontract administration, and construction strategy development.
  • Knowledge of operations, maintenance, project startup, construction management, and construction subcontracts.
  • Experience managing complex construction projects from conceptual design through completion.
  • Experience establishing project cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Ability to perform construction risk analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and manage matrix organizations. 

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOE L or Q Clearance within the past two years.
  • Experience developing large construction contracts for line-item capital projects.
  • Experience managing subcontract/STR programs at the Savannah River Site.
  • Experience developing STR policies and procedures at the Savannah River Site.
