Job description

What Timken makes possible begins with you.
Those who came before us helped land a man on the moon, create the world's infrastructure, and introduce renewable energy alternatives. Now you can join the Timken team to write your own unique story and help drive what's next.

A career at Timken means you can have an immediate impact doing Work That Matters to the world— improving the efficiency of today's industrial equipment and preparing for the future of motion on our planet and beyond. New employees can start contributing right away, and there are many opportunities to advance your career at your own pace. Join our global team of 19,000 people in 45 countries, and start helping our customers push the limits of what's possible in their world of motion.

Position base:  Pomona, Kempton Park, East Rand

Timken South Africa is looking for a Marketing, Communications & Office Administration Representative (SEWA) who loves turning big ideas into real-world impact. If you enjoy planning campaigns, making events shine, keeping projects on track, and being the person who always knows what’s happening next—this role will feel like home.

You’ll be the central coordination point for marketing, communications, and events execution—making sure everything lands on time, on brand, and within budget, while supporting our sales strategy and stakeholder engagement across the region.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications Execution

  • Build and deliver integrated communication and marketing plans aligned to business goals.
  • Manage social media in line with global brand guidelines—keeping content professional, consistent, and relevant.
  • Coordinate printed advertising, editorials, and promotional materials that represent our brand well.
  • Support regional cataloging and coordinate marketing collateral to keep sales and distributors fully equipped.

Events, Trade Shows & Conferences (End-to-End)

  • Plan and run internal and external events—from concept to execution.
  • Organise and deliver distributor conferences that people actually talk about (for the right reasons).
  • Lead trade show management including stand planning, design, setup, and on-site coordination.
  • Coordinate customer training events: venues, catering, training materials, and branded merchandise.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Support community and outreach initiatives (including STEM outreach support with HR).
  • Help strengthen our employer brand through smart, visible outreach activities.
  • Coordinate office hospitality and create a great visitor experience.
  • Take charge of the cleaning services team for the office block.

Sales & Operational Support

  • Handle travel and visa coordination for the SEWA region.
  • Coordinate arrangements for Sales and Service Engineering Level 1 training.
  • Provide responsive communications-related support to sales teams and field needs.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Track and control marketing/event costs and departmental expenses with strong cost discipline.
  • Manage spend with agencies, printers, venues, and service providers—ensuring value and quality.
  • Continuously improve the way we run programs to increase efficiency and return on investment.

What We’re Looking For

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business (or similar).
  • 3+ years in marketing/communications with hands-on experience in social media and coordinating trade shows/conferences.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • South African citizen
  • Valid unendorsed driver’s license

Skills That Will Help You Thrive

  • Confident planning and execution across campaigns, materials, and messaging—while staying aligned to brand guidelines.
  • Strong event coordination skills (conferences, trade shows, customer training, internal and community events).
  • Comfortable working with suppliers (agencies, venues, printers, caterers) and keeping delivery on brief and on budget.
  • Solid budget tracking and invoice/payment coordination experience.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with internal teams and external partners.
  • A practical mindset for improving processes and making things run smoother every cycle.

The Kind of Person Who Wins in This Role

  • Takes ownership and delivers with quality, speed, and cost awareness.
  • Can juggle multiple priorities without dropping the details.
  • Balances creativity with good judgment and brand guidelines.
  • Builds trust easily across teams and vendors.
  • Adapts fast—and improves the process as you go.

Join the Timken Team now!   This isn’t a “make-a-poster-and-book-a-room” marketing role. You’ll sit at the center of the action—shaping how the market experiences Timken, powering events that move relationships forward, and giving sales teams the support they need to win.
