Job description

The Role:

CommerceIQ is pioneering a new frontier in retail tech by building the Retailer Copilot with Agents. This is a next-generation AI platform to empower retail teams with intelligent, autonomous workflows.

We're seeking a curious, hands-on, and customer-obsessed Director of Product Management with an AI focus to join our incubation team. You'll be at the intersection of cutting-edge LLM technologies and real-world retail execution problems, helping conceptualize, prototype, test, and scale agent-based solutions across our customer base. A note that this is an individual contributor role.

If you thrive in zero-to-one environments, love working at the bleeding edge of AI, and enjoy sitting down with customers to dig into their workflows and co-create the future, this role is for you.

Why Join Us
  • Be part of CommerceIQ's newest frontier, shaping the AI agent ecosystem for retail.
  • Work directly with visionary leaders and founding engineers.
  • Build products with real impact that are tested and deployed with Fortune 500 brands.
  • Get full exposure to AI, product, customer, and GTM strategy.

Location / Travel:

  • This is an onsite role based out of our Mountain View, CA headquarters. You will be expected to work onsite 5 days per week if hired.

 What You'll Do:

AI-Native Product Thinking
  • Identify and validate customer pain points that are ripe for agent-based automation.
  • Own the AI-first product strategy: leverage LLMs, fine-tuning, RAG, and tool use to craft intelligent workflows.
  • Design and evaluate product concepts with agentic behavior, personalization, and embedded intelligence.
Rapid Prototyping & Testing
  • Create and test AI-driven prototypes, either hands-on or with the support of forward-deployed engineers.
  • Drive quick iteration cycles using real customer feedback, eval metrics, and qualitative insights.
  • Build a repeatable framework to test and prioritize use cases and agent behaviors.
Customer Discovery & Co-Creation
  • Lead deep-dive discovery sessions with senior retail & e-commerce stakeholders.
  • Translate ambiguous customer workflows into structured agent-enabled solutions.
  • Evangelize concepts early and build conviction with pilot partners.
Use Case Library & Playbooks
  • Develop a structured, living library of agent use cases across functions and retailers.
  • Create internal playbooks and blueprints for agent design, AI evaluation, and success criteria.
Cross-Functional Execution
  • Collaborate closely with Applied AI, Forward Deployed Engineering, Design, and GTM teams.
  • Operate as a mini-CEO of your use cases, from exploration to launch and customer adoption

What You'll Bring:

  • 6-12 years of experience in product management or equivalent roles (AI prototyping, ML PM, solutions engineer with PM mindset).
  • Demonstrated interest in AI: LLMs, RAG, evals, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping tools or notebooks (e.g., LangChain, Streamlit, Python, etc.). By no means do you have to be an engineer, but you must have a technical mindset and associated aptitude.
  • Strong product intuition and ability to simplify complex systems into compelling UX.
  • Experience leading customer conversations, running discovery interviews, and testing early concepts.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, and fast-paced 0 to 1 environments.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for customer immersion and pilots.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Computer Science, or a related field

Nice to Haves:

  • Background in retail, e-commerce, or SaaS for enterprise workflows.
  • Experience building agent-based systems, copilots, or AI assistants.
  • Prior startup or incubation team experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

The typical base pay range for this role in Mountain View, CA is: $203,000 - $229,000/per year. This role also qualifies for an annual bonus and initial equity package in the form of stock options.

The indicated base pay range may be inclusive of multiple career levels at CommerceIQ and will be narrowed based on a number of factors including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.

Base salary, bonus, and equity are just one part of your total rewards package at CommerceIQ. You will also receive access to:

  • Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • A 401(k)-retirement plan
  • Short & long-term disability insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid parental leave
  • Monthly reimbursements for gym, phone, and internet
  • 10+ paid company holidays in each calendar year, quarterly Global Recharge Fridays, and unlimited PTO
