Led by Founder & CEO, Rob Roy, we believe in revolutionary innovation, operational excellence and the principle of karma. Switch is where talented people come together to EVOLVE the digital world.

We believe that innovation isn’t just about technology—it’s about the people, culture, and purpose that make it happen. Every Switch team member contributes to a mission greater than themselves: to create the world’s most advanced digital infrastructure that powers the progress of humanity.

The Role: Senior Director, Data Center Operations Systems

This role leads Data Center Operations Systems across assigned campuses and is accountable for the performance, safety, and reliability of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure. You oversee managers and technical teams responsible for maintenance, operations, and expansion of mission-critical systems. The role balances operational execution, budget ownership, client engagement, and long-term infrastructure strategy.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead daily operations of DCO Systems teams to ensure safe, reliable performance of critical power, cooling, and environmental systems.

  • Provide direct leadership to DCO Systems Managers and oversee workforce planning, development, and succession.

  • Maintain uptime standards through disciplined maintenance programs, operational controls, and incident oversight.

  • Serve as executive escalation point during major facility events and participate in on-call or Manager on Duty rotations as required.

  • Oversee operational and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with reliability and expansion goals.

  • Review and approve maintenance procedures, safety programs, and OSHA compliance standards.

  • Support construction, commissioning, and expansion projects across campuses.

  • Represent DCO Systems in Change Advisory Board reviews, design discussions, client meetings, and operational reviews.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, preferred vendors, and internal stakeholders.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across automation, maintenance optimization, and process standardization.

  • Ensure client equipment installations comply with company standards and Acceptable Use Policy requirements.

  • Monitor and report on infrastructure health, personnel performance, and service metrics.

What We’re Looking For
  • Demonstrated senior leadership in mission-critical facilities operations.

  • Strong decision-making during high-impact operational events.

  • Ability to lead managers and influence multi-disciplinary technical teams.

  • Clear communication with executives, clients, vendors, and operations teams.

  • Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational discipline.

What You’ll Bring
  • 10 or more years of experience in data center, facilities, electrical, or mechanical operations, including significant management responsibility.

  • Proven leadership of campus-level or multi-site mission-critical operations.

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, ATS or STS units, PDUs, cooling systems, and fire suppression systems.

  • Experience managing operational and capital budgets.

  • Experience supporting audits, regulatory compliance, and client-facing reviews.

  • Strong understanding of CMMS, asset management, and building management systems.

  • OSHA 30 certification required; additional relevant certifications preferred.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred, or equivalent experience.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
