Job description
Position Overview
Lead groups of participants through a weeklong experience at The Summit Bechtel Reserve that involves trail building, participating in Summit activities and reinforcing the values of the OA.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead groups of scouts through the OASE program
- Support other OASE groups in the field when you are not assigned to a crew.
- Instruct scouts on proper and safe trail building while monitoring their general safety and health
- Work with OASE and Summit leadership to address any issues that might arise
- Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
- Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
- Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
- Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook
Qualifications
- Minimum age: 21+
- Required: Member of the Order of the Arrow
- Required: Comfortable in remote settings for extended time periods
- Preferred: Trail building experience
- Ability to obtain Red Cross First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, and CPR Certifications (Training provided)
- Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (includes background screening)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work-related communication
Physical & Practical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and hike up to 9 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
- Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
- Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45-55
