Job description

PlanIT Group is hiring an Traveling Systems Integration Engineer -Heavy Travel with experience to help integrate newly acquired offices. This Engineer will setup servers in an AD environment, install switches, firewalls, and configure VLANS. This Engineer will travel to various offices; this requires the ability to travel to throughout the US, Canada, and the UK/Ireland. Valid DL and U.S. Passport required for consideration. This is an open contract the opportunity to go FTE/perm after a year or so. We do provide benefits while you are a contract employee.
Travel-65% international and domestic; Current US Passport and DL required

Traveling Systems Integration Engineer
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and/or Ability:
§ A minimum of 10 years of experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows operating system, Windows Server, Active Directory, and GPOs AND switches, firewalls, WAPs, and configure VLANS.
§ Solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of applications
§ Experience with virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V)
§ Experience with monitoring systems (PRTG, SolarWinds, Nagios)
§ Ability to work with a Distributed team and communicate with team members effectively
§ Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
§ Microsoft Exchange and O365 migration knowledge (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive)
§ Strong Microsoft Office skills with Outlook, Excel, and Word. Microsoft Project, Visio, and PowerPoint expertise is a plus.
§ Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and the ability to migrate applications to Azure is a plus.
  • 8+ years' experience in Systems administration with Microsoft, Cisco, or Fortinet based infrastructure
  • Required: At least 100 mb download, and 10 mb upload (no satellite OR cellular-based internet)
Systems Engineer Responsibilities
  • Installing, configuring, maintaining Windows Server operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Travel to various offices to conduct Site surveys and document hardware systems, software, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability and security
  • Maintain security, backup, and business continuity strategies
  • Ability to understand how an application is supported by a vendor and determine upgrade plans for unsupported platforms
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2012/2016 and Windows 10 configuration and troubleshooting
  • Migrate computers onto the corporate network and restore applications and end user data
Network Engineer responsibilities
· Configurations knowledge of Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and other miscellaneous network hardware and related equipment
· Understanding of LAN Switching at L2 and LAN/WAN Routing at L3
· Understanding of LAN to LAN VPNs including legacy MPLS and SD WAN
· Understanding of Perimeter Security (Firewall & IDS)
License / Certification: One or more of the following certifications preferred: A+ or equivalent, Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco CCNA, Network+, Security+, Fortinet or similar.
