Job description

The Power Applications Engineer will drive the development, validation, and adoption of onsemi's eFuse, HotSwap, and powerswitch solutions across AI, Cloud, Networking, and advancedcomputing platforms. In this role, you will develop and refine performanceverification infrastructure to ensure robust, highquality powertree designs. You will also work with customers to optimize onsemi content within their systems and highlight the breadth and value of our powertechnology portfolio.

This role focuses on the architecture, modeling, and deployment of 48V/54V and 400V/800V powerdelivery systems used in AI servers and datacenter infrastructure. Emphasis areas include powertree design, powerdistribution optimization, and integrated protection strategies (eFuse, HotSwap, powerswitch control). Success requires a hybrid skill set spanning power electronics, protection methodologies, and systemlevel design for highdensity GPU/AI compute platforms and largescale powerdelivery clusters.

You will work closely with datacenter architects, powerelectronics development teams, and customers deploying nextgeneration AI compute infrastructure, serving as a technical interface between system requirements and onsemi's product offerings.

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (focus on power electronics or related field) with 0 -2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with highpower or highvoltage systems (48/54V or 400/800V preferred).
  • Understanding of eFuse/HotSwap, powerswitching devices, or powertree architecture.
  • Familiarity with system modeling tools (SPICE, SIMPLIS, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Strong communication and customerfacing problemsolving skills.
  • Develop reference designs, evaluation platforms, and validation infrastructure for eFuse/HotSwap and powerswitch solutions.
  • Perform system modeling, powertree analysis, and protectionstrategy optimization.
  • Support customers with design reviews, system bringup, debug, and performance benchmarking.
  • Collaborate with internal design, systems, and marketing teams to shape nextgeneration product requirements.
  • Generate technical collateral: application notes, whitepapers, reference schematics, simulation models.
