Job description

The Leased Facility Engineer (LFE) is a key onsite role within Meta’s Global Leased Facility Operations team, responsible for maintaining and protecting Meta’s infrastructure in leased data center environments. They are responsible for onsite operations and maintenance execution of Meta’s assets, day-to-day landlord coordination, risk management, incident management, and compliance activities in their assigned leased data center. The role requires strong technical, operational, and coordination skills, as well as the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Leased Facility Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary onsite representative for Meta Facility Operations
  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on Meta-owned systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls)
  • Develop, update, and validate maintenance procedures and checklists to improve reliability and consistency
  • Monitor alarms, notifications, and building systems
  • respond to abnormal conditions and restore normal operations promptly
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset inventories, and service logs for Meta-owned assets
  • Act as the primary onsite representative, managing and mitigating risks at the interface between Meta and the landlord
  • Coordinate with landlords to deconflict maintenance schedules and processes
  • Oversee vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance and quality of work
  • First responder for Meta-owned assets within leased sites
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the landlord’s onsite team during emergencies
  • Conduct incident review meetings for ongoing issues and open action items
  • Support training of new Leased Facility Engineers and Critical Facility Engineers through PQS (Performance Qualification Standards) and board assessments before work
  • Supervised participation in all aspects of shift work
  • Record all labor hours in compliance with organizational standards and tools
  • Perform regular cross-functional planning meetings and reviews procedures to align schedules and activities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance fields
  • Associate's degree in engineering plus 5+ years of experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls will be considered in lieu of 7+ years of experience
  • Experience in hands-on operations and maintenance of critical facility systems
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs and computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, and email
  • Communicate effectively and serve as a liaison between internal teams and external landlords or vendors
  • Regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain, work at varying heights and from ladders, and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Use hands and fingers, reach/push/pull with hands/arms/shoulders, and lift and/or otherwise move 45 pounds or more
  • Sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in a data center or other Critical Environment (pharma, clean room, medical, power production, etc.)
  • Experience managing landlord relationships or operating within a leased facility environment
  • Trade Certification or state licensure in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC)
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings and planning large-scale maintenance programs
  • Integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact
