Our products support critical infrastructure like vehicles, ships, bridges, railcars, and more. We succeed by putting safety, quality, and productivity first, and by living our core values: integrity, respect, trust, shared risk, and simplicity.
We're looking for a Maintenance Planner who is passionate about reliability, proactive planning, and turning strategy into execution. If you enjoy improving equipment uptime, reducing reactive maintenance, and partnering cross-functionally to keep operations running at their best, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
As a Maintenance Planner, you will be a key driver of safe, reliable, and efficient equipment performance by ensuring maintenance work is well-planned, fully prepared, and ready to execute.
  • Champion safety by embedding safety considerations into every job plan and maintenance activity
  • Review and validate maintenance work requests for clarity, completeness, and appropriate priority
  • Partner with Production Coordinators and Maintenance Leadership to align priorities and timelines
  • Own a prioritized, ready-to-schedule maintenance backlog that minimizes delays and reactive work
  • Create detailed job plans for corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities
  • Perform field walk-downs to improve planning accuracy and job success
  • Develop and maintain weekly and short-term maintenance schedules aligned to labor and production needs
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Supervisors and Operations to maximize wrench time and schedule compliance

Materials, Reliability, and Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure material readiness by identifying, ordering, staging, and coordinating parts before work is scheduled
  • Partner with Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) suppliers to maintain accurate min/max levels and timely replenishment
  • Manage long-lead, custom, and non-stock parts including vendor coordination and delivery tracking
  • Maintain and improve equipment BOMs and spare parts accuracy in the CMMS
  • Plan materials and coordination for shutdowns, outages, and major maintenance events
  • Optimize PM and PdM task frequencies to improve asset reliability
  • Support RCM, Autonomous Maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are effectively planned
  • Track and improve KPIs related to readiness, parts availability, and kitting effectiveness

What You Bring
  • Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent maintenance/reliability experience (5+ years preferred)
  • Experience with reliability-focused maintenance including PM optimization, PdM, RCM, or TPM
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS systems for planning and asset management
  • Experience coordinating with vendors and contractors
  • Strong computer skills and attention to detail
  • A proactive mindset focused on prevention, efficiency, and continuous improvement

Why Hobart Brothers?
• Be part of a respected global organization backed by Illinois Tool Works
• Make a measurable impact on safety, reliability, and operational performance
• Work in a collaborative environment where planning excellence is valued
