Job description

What We're Looking For

This opportunity entails supporting the technical aspect of project delivery. Responsible for applying advanced technical methods, techniques, and analyses to provide solutions, make recommendations and resolve issues. Ensures industry and HNTB standards of technical delivery are applied consistently and effectively across projects. Independently applies knowledge and experience in partnership with internal project team members and external client counterparts. Serves as an advisor on complex projects to provide technical solutions to achieve successful delivery.

What You'll Do:

  • Utilizes as technical resource in project meetings and project design for area of specialty.
  • Researches best practices and maintains outside contact with other specialists.
  • Acts as an internal and external point-of-contact for specialty area(s).
  • Develops and advises others in related subject matter.
  • Prepares technical presentations, reports, and analysis in area of specialty.
  • Interacts regularly with clients at the staff level.
  • May perform technical reviews for other projects in area of specialty.
  • May be responsible for leading the work of a project team in area of specialty and coordinating work with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or related field and 10 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate of Science in Drafting or Technical School or related and 12 years of relevant experience, or
  • In lieu education, 14 years of relevant experience

What You'll Bring:

  • Desire to grow your career and continue learning.

  • Willingness to help teach others.

  • Ability to work effectively and participate in working relationships with clients and sub-contractors.

  • Expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D design software.

  • Experience in developing, deploying and managing Civil 3D templates, styles, pipe networks and subassemblies.

  • Experience in managing AutoCAD and Civil 3D projects hosted on Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and/or ProjectWise.

  • Ability to set up and manage large projects.

  • Experience grading swales, ponds, berms or other water resources-related features

  • Proficient in the terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific Engineering subtype.

What We Prefer:

  • Ability to develop and implement automation-related tools, such as Lisp routines or Dynamo scripts.

  • Experience with the Corps of Engineers, City of Kansas City, MO, and/or KDOT/MoDOT.

  • Ability to also work in Microstation
