Now Hiring: Critical Infrastructure & Protection Unit Supervisor

We’re hiring for a key role with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) – the state’s lead emergency management and homeland security agency supporting California’s communities before, during, and after disasters. Cal OES employs more than 2,100 professionals who help the state plan and prepare, respond and recover, and reduce risk from all types of emergencies.

We are seeking a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Supervisor to help protect California’s people, infrastructure, and communities from all‑hazards threats.

In this role, you will:

• Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team responsible for infrastructure risk assessment, physical security, and analytic products
• Manage day‑to‑day workflow, coach and develop staff, and oversee complex research, written analysis, and briefings
• Coordinate closely with other Cal OES directorates (including Grants Management, Response Operations, and Budget/Finance) and with federal, state, local, tribal, and private‑sector partners
• Direct onsite security assessments, guide development of infrastructure‑related datasets and tools, and brief leadership and stakeholders on risk, security, and resilience

We’re looking for a mission‑driven supervisor with experience in homeland security, emergency management, or infrastructure protection; strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills; proven experience supervising and developing staff; and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multi‑agency environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience leading infrastructure protection, homeland security, or emergency management programs in complex, high‑visibility environments.
• Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure and on tight timelines during incidents, special events, and emerging threats.
• Strong leadership, analytic, and writing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and risk information into clear, actionable products for decision‑makers.
• Experience working with executive leadership and diverse external stakeholders, including federal, state, local, tribal, and private‑sector partners.
• Commitment to public service, partnership, and serving California’s diverse communities while strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure.
