Senior Civil Engineer
Salary Range $10,272.00 mo - $13,110.00 mo
Civil Engineer
Salary Range $9,499.00 mo - $12,124.00 mo
Senior Civil Engineer Description:
This position is considered a management level classification.
Under general direction, performs advanced and complex professional civil engineering work and serves in a technical and administrative leadership capacity within the Engineering Division. Plans, organizes, manages, and coordinates the design, review, permitting, construction, and delivery of public works, capital improvement, utility, and private development projects. Serves as project manager for major engineering and infrastructure initiatives; oversees consultant and construction contracts; develops and administers project budgets; prepares technical and administrative reports; and secures and administers grant and other funding opportunities. Provides technical guidance and direction to professional, technical, and support staff and represents the City before public agencies, commissions, City Council, developers, contractors, and the public.

Typical Qualifications
Senior Civil Engineer:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience:
Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience involving the design, review, and construction of public works or capital improvement projects. Experience in a municipal environment and experience providing technical direction or project management are highly desirable.
License
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required.
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving

Civil Engineer:
Education and Experience
A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field with a Degree in Civil Engineering or related field AND five (5) years of experience in the design and construction of public works projects or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
License
Registration as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required.
Must have and maintain a valid California C Driver's License.

Senior Civil Engineer Benefits:
Vacation: 10 hours per month and increasing with years of service.
Holidays: 13 fixed holidays per year plus additional 20 hours of floating holiday.
Management Leave: Sixty (60) hours per calendar year.
Sick Leave: 10 hours per month with option to convert sick leave to cash after five (5) years of service, subject to other terms and conditions.
Retirement: The City offers the CalPERS 2.0% at 62 pension formula for new CalPERS members hired on or after January 1, 2013, or 2.0% at 55 pension formula for existing CalPERS member with less than a six-month break in service from another CalPERS or CalPERS reciprocal agency.
Health Insurance: The City will pay the PPO Plan premium for a full-time employee plus one (1) dependent.
Retiree Medical: Competitive lifetime benefit upon CalPERS retirement required years of City service, subject to other terms and conditions.
Vehicle Allowance: $350 per month.
Educational Reimbursement: $2,500 per fiscal year for full-time permanent employees subject to course eligibility requirements.
Wellness Reimbursement: Up to $750 per fiscal year to use towards wellness related programs and products.
Longevity Bonus Pay: Beginning at ten (10) years of service.
Bilingual Bonus Pay: The city shall pay each approved full-time employee a Bilingual Bonus of thirty-one dollars ($31.00) per pay period as long as the employee remains eligible for the bonus.
Life Insurance: City-paid Group Term Life Insurance Policy at 1 1/2 times regular salary.
Uniform Allowance: To those employees required to wear the city shall pay a uniform allowance in the amount of six hundred dollars ($600) annually.
Shoe Allowance: To those employees required to wear safety shoes in the performance of city duties the City shall pay a shoe allowance in the amount of two hundred dollars ($200) annually for the purchase of such shoes.
Deferred Compensation: Voluntary enrollment, no City match.
401(A)Plan: Required contribution of $720.00/year.
Credit Union: Savings and loan services available through South Bay Credit Union, Kinecta, and F&A Federal Credit Union.
