How you’ll make an impact in this role

Ascension St. Vincent is actively seeking a board certified Cardiac Surgeon to join our team in the Indianapolis Indiana location. Responsibilities include all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, with an emphasis on cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

  • Join an established team of physicians and APPs
  • Call structure: Join our team of 5 established surgeons, 3 of which participate in heart transplant surgery. On-call schedules are rotated evenly among the group 1:4 for transplant call 1:6 for primary surgical call
  • Practice setting: inpatient/outpatient/mix
  • The largest Transplant & VAD program in the state
  • Ranked #1 in Heart Transplant surgery outcomes.
  • As a leader in heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support, our program has been accredited as a Center of Excellence and is certified by the Joint Commission.
  • We perform over 30 cardiac transplants per year and implant more than 60 short and long term mechanical circulatory assist devices
  • We have an active cardiac surgery research program including research trials for DCD donors utilizing the TransMedics OCS system as well as the Evaheart clinical trial
  • Employed position within a nonprofit health system
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in cardiac surgery 
  • Fellowship training in cardiac surgery 
  • Eligible for Indiana state medical licensure and DEA registration
  • Deliver High-Quality Patient Care: Provide comprehensive medical services to patients within your assigned clinical area, ensuring a patient-centered approach and adherence to safety standards.

    Expert Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough physical examinations and clinical evaluations to accurately diagnose a wide range of medical conditions

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
