    Could you be the full-time A-Arc Welder in Hornell, NY we're looking for?
    Your future role
    Take on a new challenge and apply your advanced welding expertise in a cutting-edge rail vehicle manufacturing environment. You'll work alongside skilled, safety-focused, and collaborative teammates who are dedicated to delivering world-class transportation solutions.
    You'll play a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of rail vehicles, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and workmanship. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to perform complex welding operations, support process improvements, and help deliver products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
    You'll specifically take care of welding, fabrication, inspection, and troubleshooting activities, while also supporting continuous improvement initiatives and mentoring less experienced welders.
    We'll look to you for:
    • Performing all welding operations required for rail vehicle manufacturing
    • Setting up and operating GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and Resistance Spot Welding equipment with minimal supervision
    • Reading and interpreting blueprints, work instructions, weld symbols, and welding sequences
    • Setting up and utilizing jigs, fixtures, and fabrication equipment
    • Welding a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
    • Inspecting welded assemblies and performing dimensional verification to ensure compliance with specifications
    • Supporting Engineering and Quality teams by communicating design, process, or material concerns
    • Training and guiding less experienced welders while promoting best practices
    • Assisting with new process development, root cause analysis, and manufacturing troubleshooting
    • Maintaining compliance with all Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
    • Utilizing digital tools and technology to support daily manufacturing activities

    All about you
    We value passion, craftsmanship, and a commitment to quality. While we don't expect you to have every qualification listed, the following will help you succeed in this role:
    • High School Diploma, vocational degree, welding certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • 8+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy industrial environment
    • Strong knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welding processes
    • Experience with additional welding processes such as SMAW and FCAW
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols
    • Knowledge of material properties and welding procedures for carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
    • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and burning equipment
    • Understanding of fabrication methods, fixture setup, and mechanical principles
    • Knowledge of post-weld finishing techniques, including stainless steel graining, passivation, and straightening
    • Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods such as dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection
    • Ability to inspect weldments to applicable acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements
    • AWS, ANST, or equivalent welding certifications, or the ability to obtain certification
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established work instructions and operational sequences
    • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
    • Adaptability, customer focus, and a commitment to continuous improvement
    • Ability to pass required visual acuity testing and demonstrate acceptable hand-eye coordination
