Job description

Clayton Services is searching for a Business Development Manager to join a well-established last-mile delivery and logistics company in the Houston area. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business growth by developing new client relationships, expanding existing accounts, and increasing revenue throughout the Houston market.
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: Negotiable annual salary plus commission (depending on experience)
Benefits: Medical insurance, car allowance or mileage reimbursement, and advancement opportunities.
Business Development Manager Responsibilities:
  • Develop new business opportunities to increase revenue and market share
  • Identify, prospect, and establish relationships with new business clients throughout the Houston area
  • Expand existing customer accounts by identifying additional service opportunities and business needs
  • Conduct outside sales activities, including prospecting, networking, client meetings, and presentations
  • Generate new business through cold calling, referrals, email outreach, and field sales efforts
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline from prospecting through closing
  • Prepare customer proposals, pricing, and service recommendations
  • Maintain accurate customer information and sales activity within the company's CRM and internal software systems
  • Partner with operations to ensure successful implementation of new business and exceptional customer service
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and account growth
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify sales opportunities
  • Support company growth initiatives and contribute to long-term business development strategies
Business Development Manager Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 3 years of business development or outside sales experience within the transportation, logistics, freight, or supply chain industry required
  • Experience selling last-mile delivery, courier, freight, or transportation services preferred
  • Experience developing new business and growing existing customer accounts required
  • Experience conducting outside sales, prospecting, and client presentations required
  • Experience utilizing CRM or customer relationship management software preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business or a related field is a plus
