As the most technically skilled front-end engineer on the team, this person drives architectural direction, mentors engineers, and ensures the applications are accessible, performant, and delightful to use. The role includes close collaboration with backend data platform teams, Data Science teams, and UX designers to translate analytical insights into actionable visual interfaces.
About the Role
Architecture & Technical Leadership:
  • Architect and evolve modern, scalable front-end applications using React, TypeScript, Next.js, and enterprise component libraries
  • Lead architecture reviews for state management, data visualization strategies, performance optimization, and front-end infrastructure
  • Define and enforce front-end coding standards, design patterns, and technical best practices across multiple teams
  • Drive strategic decisions on UI frameworks, build systems, testing infrastructure, and developer tooling
  • Introduce new front-end technologies and frameworks to support long-term scalability, maintainability, and developer experience

Application Development:
  • Build high-performance, responsive web applications that visualize large-scale workforce benchmarks and analytics
  • Design and implement sophisticated data visualization interfaces using libraries like D3.js, Recharts, or similar frameworks
  • Create scalable component architectures and design systems that support white-labeling and multi-tenant requirements
  • Integrate with RESTful and GraphQL APIs, handling real-time data updates, optimistic UI patterns, and complex state management
  • Implement client-side data aggregation, filtering, and transformation to support interactive analytics experiences

Data Privacy & Security:
  • Engineer privacy-first UI components that properly mask PII, enforce role-based access controls, and handle sensitive HCM data
  • Implement client-side data redaction, anonymization displays, and audit logging for compliance requirements
  • Build secure authentication/authorization flows and session management patterns
  • Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance across all interfaces

Collaboration & Operationalization:
  • Partner with Data Science teams to visualize statistical models, quantitative insights, and AI-generated summaries
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to define optimal API contracts, data shapes, and performance characteristics
  • Work with UX designers to translate wireframes and design systems into production-ready, pixel-perfect implementations
  • Translate product requirements and analytical needs into technical designs and execution plans

Performance & Quality:
  • Optimize application performance including bundle sizes, lazy loading, code splitting, and runtime performance
  • Implement comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E, visual regression, accessibility)
  • Establish observability and monitoring for front-end errors, performance metrics, and user experience analytics
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving browser compatibility, rendering performance, or API integration bottlenecks

Mentorship & Leadership:
  • Mentor front-end and full-stack engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance
  • Influence technical direction across multiple product teams and establish front-end best practices organization-wide
  • Lead by example with high-quality code contributions and architectural decision-making

About You:
Basic Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in lead or staff-level front-end positions
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and front-end build tooling (Vite, Webpack, etc.)
  • Strong data visualization skills using D3.js, Recharts, or similar libraries to create interactive charts and dashboards
  • Production experience with modern front-end architecture patterns including component design systems, micro-frontends, and mono repo structures
  • Proven ability to optimize application performance (Core Web Vitals, bundle optimization, lazy loading strategies)
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), semantic HTML, and inclusive design principles
  • Experience designing security-conscious front-end applications with proper handling of authentication, authorization, and sensitive data display
  • Leverage AI coding agents such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor to accelerate front-end development, including generating production-ready components, refactoring existing codebases, debugging complex UI issues, and improving engineering throughput while maintaining code quality, security, and design system compliance
  • Ability to break ambiguous product requirements into structured technical designs and actionable implementation plans
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction across front-end and full-stack teams
  • Strong experience integrating with backend APIs, data pipelines, and real-time data sources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience architecting enterprise design systems and component libraries used across multiple products
  • Experience with advanced data visualization techniques for large datasets (virtual scrolling, canvas rendering, WebGL)
  • Experience building real-time dashboards using WebSockets, Server-Sent Events, or similar streaming technologies
  • Experience with modern CSS architectures (CSS-in-JS, Tailwind CSS, CSS Modules) and responsive design patterns
  • Experience implementing white-label/multi-tenant UI architectures with theme customization
  • Experience with Next.js, Remix, or similar meta-frameworks for server-side rendering and hybrid applications
  • Experience working in regulated environments with strong data compliance, audit requirements, and privacy-preserving UI patterns
  • Experience with micro-frontend architectures (Module Federation, single-spa, etc.) for large-scale applications
  • Experience building AI-powered user interfaces, including chat interfaces, natural language interactions, or LLM-generated content display
  • Experience mentoring senior front-end engineers, design engineers, or full-stack engineers
  • Experience defining front-end strategy across multiple teams, including developer experience, tooling, and quality standards
