Job description

Title: Field Supervisor, Geo-Exchange

Location: Greater Toronto Area

Company: Loop Drilling

Role Overview

The Field Supervisor is Loop Drilling Inc.'s senior on-site representative for geo-exchange (ground source heat exchange) installations, accountable for safe, productive and specification-compliant work from mobilization through commissioning. You'll run everything happening on site: vertical borehole drilling, loop installation, grouting, pressure and flow testing, horizontal trenching and piping, fusion welding, manifold work, and glycol charging through to final system testing. You'll work closely with drill crews, loop and fusion personnel, subtrades, and client representatives, and you're the person others look to when a decision needs to be made. Good work in this role looks like clean daily records, crews hitting production targets safely, and problems getting solved on site instead of turning into cost or schedule surprises later. When something falls outside your authority to fix, you know when to escalate before it becomes a bigger issue.

What We Offer

  • Salary: $90,000 to $120,000, based on experience
  • Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, life)
  • Performance based annual bonus eligibility
  • A senior seat with real authority over how projects are run, not just administered
  • Opportunities for career growth within the Triumph Group of Companies

What You Bring to the Table

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of progressive geothermal / geo-exchange drilling experience, including time in a supervisory or lead-hand capacity
  • Hands-on knowledge of dual rotary drill rigs, including set-up, casing advance, air and water circulation, and tooling
  • Working knowledge of loop-field equipment: grout pumps and mixers, tremie systems, fusion equipment, and related support machinery
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, geothermal loop-field drawings, mechanical drawings, specifications, and borehole logs
  • Practical understanding of how ground conditions (overburden, clay, shale, rock, artesian conditions) affect drilling method, casing, and productivity.

Attributes

    • You lead by example and hold crews accountable for output and quality without losing their respect.
    • You solve problems in the field instead of waiting for someone else to sort them out.
    • You communicate clearly, in writing and in person, and daily records don't slip on your watch.
    • You know the difference between a problem you can fix on site and one that needs to go up the chain right away.
    • You take safety seriously as part of the job, not a checkbox, and you're comfortable stopping work when conditions call for it.

    Duties & Responsibilities

      • Supervise vertical drilling of closed-loop boreholes to the specified depth, diameter, and alignment.
      • Direct loop insertion, tremie grouting, and pressure and flow testing of loops and circuits against project specifications.
      • Oversee HDPE fusion welding, confirming operator qualification, joint quality, and traceability records.
      • Coordinate header trench excavation, horizontal piping layout, and backfill in line with project drawings.
      • Supervise manifold assembly, glycol charging, and final system testing, balancing, and commissioning turnover.
      • Deliver daily tailboard meetings and toolbox talks, and enforce site safety programs and PPE requirements.
      • Prepare accurate daily site logs covering manpower, equipment, production, ground conditions, and safety activity.
      • Arrange mobilization and demobilization of drill rigs and equipment, and verify material deliveries against orders.
      • Lead and develop drill crews, helpers, and subtrades, and resolve crew-level performance issues as they come up.
      • Represent Loop Drilling Inc. at client and progress meetings, and communicate field conditions clearly to protect the company's position.

Company Overview: Triumph Group of Companies

Loop Drilling Inc. is a specialized geothermal and geo-exchange installation contractor, delivering ground source heat exchange systems from initial borehole drilling through final commissioning. The company works on project sites across Ontario, handling vertical and horizontal drilling, loop installation, fusion welding, and full system testing.

Loop Drilling Inc.'s culture is built around safety, accountability, and getting technically demanding work done right the first time. The team values people who take ownership on site, communicate clearly, and keep projects moving without cutting corners.
